The world is magic is back! Warner Bros. just released the second official trailer for the third installment of the Harry Potter prequel franchise — Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore!

It’s been eleven years since the Harry Potter franchise concluded with the eighth and final movie — Deathly Hallows, Part 2. In 2016, the prequel/spin-off franchise Fantastic Beasts starring Eddie Redmayne kicked off. The first movie received positive reviews and was a box-office success. But, the sequel, The Crimes of Grindelwald didn’t do so well critically or commercially, which puts a lot of faith into this upcoming installment to put the franchise back on track, especially because two more movies are planned after this one.

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore will take us on a journey across the whole Wizarding World, in which we’ll meet other schools of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The movie takes place right before the beginning of World War 2 in the muggle world, and as the war against the Dark Wizard Gellert Grindelwald is also arising in the magical world, the stakes will be higher than ever.

“Professor Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) knows the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Mads Mikkelsen) is moving to seize control of the wizarding world. Unable to stop him alone, he entrusts Magizoologist Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) to lead an intrepid team of wizards, witches and one brave Muggle baker on a dangerous mission, where they encounter old and new beasts and clash with Grindelwald’s growing legion of followers. But with the stakes so high, how long can Dumbledore remain on the sidelines?” — Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, official synopsis

David Yates is back in the director’s chair, directing a movie from a screenplay written by the author J.K. Rowling and Harry Potter screenwriter Steve Kloves. The movie features an ensemble cast led by Academy Award winner Eddie Redmayne, two-time Oscar nominee Jude Law, Ezra Miller, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Callum Turner, Jessica Williams, Katherine Waterston, and Mads Mikkelsen, who replaced Johnny Depp as Grindelwald.

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore will premiere only in theaters on April 15, 2022.
