SEGA Confirms Sonic and More for Nintendo Switch 2 Launch Day on June 5

Sonic is back and faster than ever! SEGA just announced that SONIC X SHADOW GENERATIONS will be one of the first games to launch with the new Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5, 2025. Fans of Sonic, Shadow, and classic side-scrolling action can look forward to exciting new adventures with better graphics on the updated console.
But Sonic isn’t the only star of launch day. SEGA also revealed that Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut and Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S will also be released on the same day.
Another game, RAIDOU Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army, will arrive two weeks later on June 19, 2025. SEGA’s fun museum simulator, Two Point Museum, will launch later in the year.
Here’s a quick look at what’s coming:
- SONIC X SHADOW GENERATIONS – Coming June 5, this game mixes gameplay from Classic Sonic, Modern Sonic, and Shadow. It will feature improved visuals made just for the Nintendo Switch 2.
- Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut – Also launching June 5, this version adds new story scenes, an online multiplayer mode called “Red Light Raid,” and English voice acting for the first time.
- Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S – The popular puzzle game returns on June 5 with new features like a special “Puyo Tetris Doubles” mode. Players can also try new ways to play using the Joy-Con 2 mouse controls.
- RAIDOU Remastered – This updated version of the classic game comes out on June 19, 2025. It brings the story of the Soulless Army to a new generation.
Pre-orders for all four of these games begin April 24, 2025, in both physical and digital formats.
