Shia LaBeouf appears to have chosen the wrong adversaries during a recent trip to New Orleans. Video footage has surfaced showing the actor enduring a brutal physical altercation before law enforcement could intervene at the scene.

In the clip, while LaBeouf is seen struggling to return to his feet after being knocked down, a man warns him to remain on the ground while delivering two powerful blows to the actor’s face. The man can be heard yelling that they were going to beat the f** out* of him, urging the actor to chill as another individual enters the frame to reinforce the threat.

LaBeouf was eventually transported to a local hospital to receive treatment for undisclosed injuries. Following his medical release, he was formally arrested and booked on two counts of simple battery.

The conflict reportedly began when LaBeouf started a dispute with a staff member at a bar located in the historic French Quarter. Although a worker managed to escort him out of the establishment, the actor allegedly began striking the employee with closed fists the moment they were outside.

According to the police report, the victims claimed that LaBeouf briefly departed the area before returning with an even more aggressive demeanor. Witnesses stated that it required the strength of several bystanders to hold the actor down.

When they eventually released him in the hopes that he would simply leave, police allege that LaBeouf immediately targeted the same worker from earlier, striking them in the upper body before allegedly punching a second person in the nose. At that point, the 39-year-old was restrained once more and held until officers arrived shortly after 12:45 AM.

This latest incident adds another chapter to the actor’s long history of public controversy. LaBeouf previously underwent court-mandated rehabilitation following a 2017 arrest in Savannah, Georgia, involving charges of public drunkenness and disorderly conduct.

While he has spoken openly in recent years about his efforts toward sobriety and personal growth, this violent Mardi Gras episode suggests those struggles remain ongoing. As of this year, LaBeouf has been attempting to maintain a career presence through independent cinema and international collaborations.

He recently completed work on Henry Johnson, a gritty prison drama directed by David Mamet, and appeared in the psychological thriller Salvable alongside Toby Kebbell. Additionally, he has been developing a project titled Angel of Death with legendary director Jerzy Skolimowski, a film for which LaBeouf reportedly also wrote the screenplay.

The actor is also slated to appear in The Phoenician Scheme, a star-studded adventure film directed by Wes Anderson, featuring an ensemble that includes Tom Hanks and Benedict Cumberbatch.
