Shia LaBeouf has made headlines this past weekend in New Orleans. While the massive carnival finally comes to a close tomorrow on Fat Tuesday, actor Shia LaBeouf has reportedly been on an extensive weekend bar crawl throughout the city’s Uptown neighborhood.

Employees from several local drinking establishments have claimed that the Transformers star has been making his way through the city since Thursday. This reported spree comes as a surprise to many, as LaBeouf has publicly professed to be sober in recent years. He has previously cited his past struggles with alcoholism as the root of his abusive behavior toward his former girlfriend, FKA Twigs.

However, the actor hit a literal and metaphorical wall early Sunday night at Ms. Mae’s, a boisterous dive bar that stays open 24 hours a day. Witnesses at the establishment described the actor as being in a “somewhat belligerent” and “inebriated” state when he arrived.

LaBeouf, who is currently married to actress Mia Goth, reportedly showed up at the bar without a shirt or any cash. His arrival coincided with the Bacchus super-krewe parade, which brings thousands of revelers to the surrounding St. Charles Avenue.

According to the doorman at Ms. Mae’s, Robert Skuse, the actor allegedly resorted to the classic do you know who I am? routine when he encountered resistance at the door. Despite his state, he reportedly complied when told to put his shirt back on and even stopped to pose for photos with fans who recognized him.

The staff at Ms. Mae’s eventually asked the actor to leave after he attempted to step behind the bar and act as a “celebrity bartender.” Tensions rose when he repeatedly asked if he could use a credit card despite the bar’s numerous “Cash Only” signs.

One bartender, Kyle Catarouch, reportedly grew tired of the persistence and told him to go back and dig holes, a sharp reference to his 2003 breakout film, Holes. Reports of LaBeouf’s presence have trickled in from various corners of the city, with one anonymous bartender claiming he has been “terrorizing” New Orleans all weekend.

On Thursday evening, he was spotted at the jazz club Dos Jefes, where patrons described him as being louder than the music while giving unsolicited acting advice to a stranger. He also made a “chill” appearance at a local spot called 45 Tchoup, where the owners noted he left a generous tip after forgetting to sign his credit card slip.

When he isn’t making headlines for his parade-route antics, LaBeouf has been attempting to rebuild his standing in the film industry. He was recently seen in Francis Ford Coppola’s polarizing epic Megalopolis, playing the chaotic Clodio Pulcher alongside Adam Driver and Aubrey Plaza.

He also starred in the 2025 British boxing drama Salvable, where he played an ex-convict who lures a former fighter back into the world of illegal underground matches. Looking forward, the actor is set to appear in a high-profile thriller titled Assassination, which explores a fictionalized conspiracy surrounding the death of JFK.

That project features an elite cast including Al Pacino, John Travolta, and Viggo Mortensen. Additionally, he has been involved in the development of Angel of Death, a project he reportedly helped write.
