Shocking Discovery Near Disneyland: Dead Body Found Outside the Park
Disneyland has long marketed itself as “The Happiest Place on Earth,” drawing visitors from around the world to its Anaheim, California resort. On most days, the sidewalks around the property are filled with families heading toward the gates, with little more on their minds than which attractions to visit first.
Sunday afternoon looked very different along one stretch of the resort’s perimeter. Police tape, emergency vehicles, and a privacy screen appeared near one of the resort’s best-known landmarks, prompting pedestrians to detour and sparking questions on social media.
A 65-year-old man was found dead outside the Disneyland Resort on Sunday, October 25, in an incident first highlighted widely by TMZ. Police said they were called to the area around 1:40 p.m. for a person in distress, who then fell unconscious.
By the time officers arrived, the man had already died, according to the Anaheim Police Department. Paramedics with Anaheim Fire and Rescue pronounced him deceased at the scene.
The man was found on the sidewalk in the 800 block of West Katella Avenue, at the resort’s south entrance. The location sits directly beneath the large, arched blue Disneyland Resort entrance sign that marks the property’s boundary along the corridor.
Investigators quickly indicated that the death did not appear suspicious. Anaheim Police Sgt. Eric Anderson told the Los Angeles Times that the man appeared to have died of natural causes and that no foul play was suspected.
Police also said the man was known to the department and had been living without permanent housing in the area. His identity has not been publicly released. Officers found no immediate signs of physical violence or trauma, according to reports. A beer can was reportedly found near the man, though investigators have not established whether it had any connection to his death.
While police handled the scene, they closed the area around the south entrance for a period of time. Officers cordoned off a stretch of sidewalk with yellow tape and placed a black privacy partition under the gateway to shield the scene from passing vehicles and pedestrians.
Members of the Orange County Coroner’s Office also responded. They were later seen removing the covered body from the scene on a gurney. Anaheim police have said the on-scene investigation has concluded and that no criminal inquiry is being pursued. The situation was described as fully contained, with no threat to the community.
The incident did not appear to affect operations inside the parks. Despite the visible police presence along the roadway outside the gates, attractions and entertainment schedules reportedly continued without disruption.
Early reports of the incident first spread through local scanner accounts on social media, which alerted followers to an unresponsive person in the Disneyland Resort area and a police response nearby.
The Orange County Sheriff-Coroner will determine the official cause of death following a post-mortem review. Until then, police have not released further details about the circumstances leading up to the man’s death.
While the location drew widespread attention because of its connection to one of the world’s most famous theme parks, the incident is ultimately a sad reminder of the realities facing people living without stable housing in the surrounding area.
