Simon Pegg Says a Fourth Star Trek Movie Is “Not Impossible”

Actor and writer Simon Pegg still has hope for Star Trek 4. Speaking at Awesome Con, Pegg talked about how much he would love to return to the world of Star Trek. The popular sci-fi reboot began in 2009 with J.J. Abrams as the director and showed a new version of the classic crew by using an alternate universe.
Two more films followed, but fans have been waiting for a fourth movie ever since.
At the event, Pegg said, “I’d like us to do another movie. I would be happy to get back with those guys and do another movie, whatever the story is. I love my Enterprise crewmates; they’re the sweetest people. I was so proud of Zoe winning an Oscar this year.”
Pegg isn’t the only one ready to return. Chris Pine, who played Captain Kirk, also wants to come back. But everyone knows there’s a big challenge ahead.
Pegg brought up the loss of a beloved cast member, Anton Yelchin, who played Chekhov. Yelchin passed away in a tragic accident in 2016, just before the release of Star Trek Beyond. His death was a huge shock to the cast and fans.
Pegg added, “It’s going to be a hard one for us, because we lost Anton [Yelchin], who was a very beloved member of our group. But whatever that story is, I’ll be there for it. I have no news to give you in that regard, just that it’s not impossible. So, fingers crossed.”
Yelchin was known for his strong performances, both in indie films and as the smart, quick-thinking Chekhov in the Star Trek series. Star Trek Beyond ended with a touching tribute to him, showing how much he meant to the cast and fans.
