‘Sinners’ Just Got a Halloween Horror Nights Maze, and It Looks Just as Terrifying as the Movie

Ryan Coogler’s genre-defying vampire epic has spent the past year cementing itself as one of horror’s biggest recent success stories, racking up both box office dominance and a surprising amount of awards-season love along the way. Given that kind of momentum, it was only a matter of time before Universal came calling to turn the film’s most iconic setting into something guests could physically walk through.

That transformation has now officially arrived, bringing the film’s blood-soaked juke joint to life just in time for the spookiest season of the year.

The ‘Sinners‘ maze at Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights features the opening night of Club Juke, and needless to say, it’s got a little bit of a vampire problem. The haunted house opened August 28 at Universal Orlando Resort and follows on September 3 at Universal Studios Hollywood, transporting guests directly into the film’s 1930s Mississippi Delta setting as part of the event’s 35th anniversary season.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the maze recreates the moment celebration turns to chaos at Smoke and Stack’s newly opened juke joint, as the nefarious, red-eyed vampires Remmick, Bert, and Joan crash the party with an insatiable hunger for the guests inside. Visitors will encounter familiar faces from the film throughout the experience, including Sammie, Mary, Annie, Pearline, and Cornbread, all caught in the same deadly struggle between the twin brothers and the bloodthirsty intruders that defined the film’s climax.

Halloween Horror Nights Executive Producer John Murdy explained the thinking behind bringing the film to life as a physical attraction, telling media outlets that just as Coogler’s Academy Award-winning film reinvented the vampire movie, the team wanted to reinvent the haunted house experience itself, pushing toward scares they’d never previously attempted for the event.

Since debuting in 2025, ‘Sinners’ became the highest-grossing original horror film ever released, eventually earning a record-breaking 16 Academy Award nominations and four wins. Written, directed, and produced by Coogler alongside fellow Proximity Media producers Zinzi Coogler and Sev Ohanian, the film follows twin brothers Smoke and Stack as they return to their hometown to open a juke joint for their community, only for that celebration to spiral into a desperate fight for survival once the vampires arrive.

Discover Universal’s blog detailed some of the specific film moments the maze incorporates, including recreations of scenes like “The Surreal Montage” and “Rocky Road to Dublin,” giving longtime fans of the film recognizable beats to spot as they move through the experience. To help build out the world of Club Juke, the maze also weaves in supporting figures from the story, including Delta Slim as a performer and shopkeepers Grace and Bo Chow as suppliers, further immersing guests in the same community atmosphere that made the film’s setting so distinct before everything fell apart.

With Halloween Horror Nights marking its 35th anniversary this year, adding one of the genre’s biggest recent breakouts to the lineup feels like a fitting way to celebrate that milestone. Given how much acclaim ‘Sinners’ has already earned on screen, translating that same intensity into a walk-through haunted house experience seems like exactly the kind of ambitious swing longtime HHN fans have come to expect from the event.
