Sir Rod Stewart Blasts Trump’s “Disgraceful” Insult to Troops Who Died in Afghanistan!
Sir Rod Stewart has officially severed his ties with former friend Donald Trump, lashing out at the president in a blistering video statement. The rock legend, who holds the title of Knight of the Realm, was visibly shaken by recent remarks made by Trump that questioned the bravery of NATO troops during the conflict in Afghanistan.
In a sharp departure from their past neighborly relationship in Florida, Stewart repeatedly referred to the politician as a draft dodger while defending the honor of fallen soldiers.
The controversy erupted following an interview given by Trump in Davos, where he suggested that European allies avoided the front lines, leaving the most dangerous work to American forces. Stewart, standing in formal attire within a stately setting, was quick to leverage his platform to express his outrage. Hi there. I may just be a humble rock star. I’m also a knight of the realm, and I have my opinions, he began, establishing a tone of somber authority.
Having been born shortly after World War II, the singer emphasized his lifelong respect for the armed forces and the freedoms they secured. He noted that reading such criticisms felt personally painful given the heavy price paid by British families. It hurts me badly, deeply, when I read that the draft dodger Trump has criticized our troops in Afghanistan for not being on the front line, he added with visible emotion.
Stewart highlighted the specific toll of the twenty-year war, remindng his audience that the United Kingdom suffered 457 fatalities, the highest number of any ally besides the United States. We lost over 400 of our guys. Think of their parents. Think about it! And Trump calls ’em almost like cowards. It’s unbearable, he stated. The singer concluded his message by demanding that Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Nigel Farage pressure Trump into a formal apology.
The backlash against the president’s comments has united various British political figures who rarely agree. Prime Minister Starmer described the remarks as insulting and frankly appalling, while Prince Harry, a veteran of the Afghanistan conflict himself, issued a statement defending the truth of the NATO mission. Even Trump’s traditional allies, like Nigel Farage, admitted that the president was wrong on this particular issue.
This public falling out marks a significant shift for Stewart, who used to attend Christmas parties at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate. The singer had previously mentioned that while he liked Trump as a man’s man in the past, he felt the politician became another guy after entering the White House. This latest defense of the military seems to have been the final straw for their fractured friendship.
Beyond his political activism, Sir Rod Stewart remains a prolific force in the music industry well into 2026. He is currently in the midst of his highly successful Global Farewell Tour, which is scheduled to conclude with a series of massive residency shows in Las Vegas. He also recently celebrated the release of his latest studio collaboration, which explores his deep-rooted love for swing and big band music.
