‘Skyline’ Movies in Order: Including ‘Warpath’
The ‘Skyline’ film series, created by Joshua Cordes and Liam O’Donnell, explores a global alien invasion and humanity’s resistance to save the world. It combines science fiction, disaster, and alien action genres, and each installment within the series incorporates various genres. Despite the rocky beginning ‘Skyline’ turned out to be a hit franchise with varying degrees of success, and with more movies scheduled in the future, we decided to bring you a comprehensive watch order. All ‘Skyline’ movies in release date order
The first ‘Skyline’ movie was released back in 2010. The movie was a box-office success, but critics hated it. 7 years later the franchise was resurrected by a sequel and the situation was reversed, the critics loved it while it flopped on the box office. In the span of 10 years, ‘Skyline’ has seen three installments, with a fourth one on the way, scheduled to be released next year.

Are all ‘Skyline’ movies connected? What’s the best way to watch them?
All ‘Skyline’ movies are connected and take place in the same continuity and the same timeline, even if the movies focus on different characters. The first movie introduced the global disaster, the second movie expanded on it, and the third saw the characters leading the fight against the aliens. The best way to watch the movies so far is in the release date order, ‘Warpath,’ once released, it will however complicate things.
All 3 ‘Skyline’ Movies in chronological order
The second movie ‘Beyond Skyline’ takes place at the same time as the first movie, with the third movie taking place shortly after the events of ‘Beyond Skyline.’ So far, so good, and the timeline is rather straightforward. The upcoming sequel ‘Warpath’ will serve as both a sequel to ‘Beyond Skyline’ and the prequel to ‘Skylines’ taking place 5 years after the events of ‘Beyond Skyline,’ but for now, the chronology looks as follows:
1. ‘Skyline’ (2010)
Jarrod and Elaine visit Los Angeles for their friend Terry’s birthday party, where they witness bizarre blue lights descending from the sky. These lights hypnotize and immobilize anyone who looks at them, and alien ships collect the hypnotized individuals. Jarrod narrowly avoids capture thanks to Terry’s intervention, and they reunite with Elaine. Seeking safety, they join forces with others in their condominium, including Terry’s neighbor Walt.
As they attempt to escape in Walt’s car, tragedy strikes when a massive alien creature crushes the vehicle, resulting in Denise’s death. The survivors, Jarrod, Elaine, Colin, and Jen, retreat to the garage, encountering a tentacled squid-like alien
2. ‘Beyond Skyline’ (2017)
Simultaneous to the events of the first “Skyline” film, Mark Corley, a Los Angeles detective, assists his estranged son Trent as an alien invasion unfolds. The aliens use a blue light to abduct much of the city’s population into their spaceships. Mark leads a group, including Trent, transit operator Audrey, and a homeless man named “Sarge,” through subway tunnels to escape the chaos. Despite the nuclear destruction of the city, the survivors are eventually abducted onto the alien flagship.
3. ‘Skylines’ (2020)
Continuing from the previous film, Rose leads the human fleet against the aliens now known as ‘Harvesters.’ They are aboard the Armada, a mother ship orbiting the Moon. During a critical moment, Rose hesitates, resulting in the loss of one of her ships. Facing the imminent threat of the aliens firing on Earth, Rose makes a difficult decision to destroy one of her own ships, sacrificing thousands of humans to destroy the Armada. Overwhelmed by guilt, Rose disappears as humanity begins to rebuild, coexisting with the billions of ‘Pilots,’ liberated alien-human hybrids.

The first movies in the franchise ‘Skyline’ (2010), can be streamed on Hulu, Starz, Roku, Tubi, and Freevee. ‘Beyond Skyline’ (2017) can only be streamed on Netflix but can also be purchased on Apple TV, Amazon, and Microsoft Store. The latest installment ‘Skylines’ (2020) can also be streamed exclusively on Netflix due to it basically being the reason why the franchise exists today.
Will there be more ‘Skyline’ movies?
‘Warpath’ is set to be released sometime in 2025, after that? Who knows? Honestly, after the first movie, it’s surprising that the franchise has three installments in the first place. If the movie proves to be successful enough, it’s highly likely that the fifth movie will enter development, but this wasn’t officially confirmed or anything. It’s just my opinion.
