‘Slow Horses’ Season 7 Release Date Outlook, Where to Watch and Preview

With the sixth run of ‘Slow Horses’ set to wrap on October 21, attention is already shifting to what comes next. Apple TV+ renewed the series through an additional season in July 2025, before the fifth season had even debuted. That early commitment has given the next season of ‘Slow Horses’ an unusually long runway.

This guide covers what is confirmed about the next season of ‘Slow Horses’, from its likely timing and streaming home to its cast and story. Apple has not yet announced a release date. Several details have still emerged from cast interviews and recent announcements.

‘Slow Horses’ Release Date Outlook

Apple has not confirmed a date, but a new season has aired every year since the show launched in 2022, which points to an arrival sometime in 2027. That expectation is backed by the cast. In an interview with ScreenRant, Christopher Chung, who plays Roddy Ho, said the show has run pretty much like clockwork since the third season and called 2027 a good bet.

The production schedule supports that timeline. Filming for the next season reportedly wrapped in late August 2026. Gary Oldman had previously said cameras would start rolling at the end of October, shortly after the sixth season finished shooting.

Fans looking for a more specific window have been pointing to the fall. A premiere date has yet to be announced, though a fall release would match the pattern of previous seasons. Apple’s crowded schedule could still shuffle those plans.

Where to Watch ‘Slow Horses’ on Apple TV

‘Slow Horses’ remains an Apple TV exclusive, and new seasons stream only on that service alongside all of the earlier seasons. Viewers who want to catch up before the next run can do so in one place. No other streaming home has been announced.

A release time is not available either, since there is no premiere date yet. For the sixth season, Apple confirmed the date but never announced an official hour, and readers were warned to be cautious about unofficial time claims. The same caution applies here until Apple says otherwise.

The weekly rollout is likely to continue. Apple released the sixth season one episode at a time each Wednesday. The next season is also set to run for six episodes.

The long term outlook looks secure as well. Apple renewed the show for yet another season on September 15, 2026. That later season is expected to tackle the novel Clown Town.

‘Slow Horses’ Cast and Returning Characters

Apple has now started filling in the ensemble. On Monday, October 19, Apple TV announced the cast for the next installment and confirmed that James Callis returns as Claude Whelan. That return is not a surprise given the book being adapted.

New faces are on the way too. Joining the cast are Varada Sethu, Ethan Moorhouse, Tuppence Middleton, Merab Ninidze and Joshua McGuire. Apple has not yet detailed the roles for most of the newcomers.

The core of the series remains familiar. Gary Oldman stars as Jackson Lamb alongside Jack Lowden, Kristin Scott Thomas and Jonathan Pryce. Oldman has suggested the next season will bring a new team into the story.

Behind the scenes there is a change at the top. Ben Vanstone is writing the next season after Will Smith left the showrunner role following the fifth season, and Gaby Chiappe guided the sixth.

Preview of the ‘Slow Horses’ Bad Actors Story

The upcoming season will adapt Mick Herron’s novel Bad Actors, the eighth book in his spy series, across six episodes. Apple has kept most plot details quiet. The official description does offer a clear direction.

Apple’s logline says Lamb and his team are on a hunt to find and neutralize a mole at the heart of British government before the mole can bring down the state. A mole hunt places the Slough House crew in familiar territory, with the stakes raised to the level of national security.

The structure also shifts. The sixth season combined two novels, Joe Country and Slough House, while the next one returns to a straight single book adaptation. That could give the story more room to build around one central threat.

With a mole at the center of the story and a largely new team joining Lamb, it will be interesting to see whether Slough House’s misfits can expose a traitor in British government, and who you would most like to see unmasked, so tell us who you think the mole will be in the comments.
