‘SNL’ Fan-Favorite Set to Take the Pop Culture Jeopardy! Helm
Colin Jost is officially returning as the host of Pop Culture Jeopardy! for its second season. On Friday, January 23, 2026, the show’s official social media account confirmed the news, bringing relief to fans who were wondering if the Saturday Night Live star would continue with the series.
The announcement also revealed a major change for the show: it will move from Prime Video to Netflix for the 2026 season. Did you miss us? A new season of Pop Culture Jeopardy! is coming to @netflix in 2026, the Instagram post read, alongside a new photo of Jost on the colorful set. Fans have been eagerly waiting to see if Jost would follow the show to its new platform.
The series puts a modern spin on the classic Jeopardy! format. Teams of three compete in a tournament-style game, answering questions about everything from alternative rock to the deepest corners of the Marvel universe.
Suzanne Prete, president of game shows at Sony Pictures TV, said the first season’s success was a key reason for the show’s expansion. “Pop Culture Jeopardy! captivated an audience with its fun and energetic gameplay, building on the beloved franchise and offering fans an opportunity to test their zeitgeist knowledge,” she said.
The first season premiered in December 2024, awarding a $300,000 grand prize to the winning team. The upcoming Netflix season is expected to continue that tradition while reaching a bigger, global audience. Production for the new episodes is set to start this spring.
Outside of Pop Culture Jeopardy!, Jost remains busy with his work on SNL. He returned for Season 51 this past fall, continuing his long-running role as co-anchor of “Weekend Update” alongside Michael Che. He has also been preparing for his upcoming comedy film, The Breadwinner, directed by Eric Appel and starring Nate Bargatze, Mandy Moore, and Will Forte, set for release on March 13.
Jost has been active on the stand-up circuit as well, with tour dates in February and March 2026 across New York and Pennsylvania. In his personal life, he has been seen supporting his wife, Scarlett Johansson, at screenings for her directorial debut, Eleanor the Great.
Fans of Pop Culture Jeopardy! can look forward to Jost bringing his sharp humor to Netflix later this year. The move to a new streaming platform promises more viewers and a bigger stage for the show’s mix of trivia and pop culture fun.
Do you think Colin Jost will shine even more on Netflix, or was the original Prime Video home a better fit for Pop Culture Jeopardy!?
