Sofía Vergara and Joe Manganiello’s romance once looked like a Hollywood fairy tale. The pair first met at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in 2014, when Vergara was still with her ex-fiancé Nick Loeb, and after 6 months of dating, Manganiello proposed on Christmas Eve before the couple married in 2015.

Years later, that chapter has resurfaced in a far less romantic way. Manganiello, now engaged to actress Caitlin O’Connor, has reopened the story of their marriage in his new memoir ‘Bloodlines’, and the book’s claims have quickly made headlines.

In the book, Manganiello alleges that Vergara ridiculed him while he was battling a serious autoimmune condition. He writes that he struggled with a lack of physical affection and felt unsupported, claiming she wouldn’t hug him even when he pleaded.

He also uses the memoir to challenge her version of why they split. Vergara told Men’s Journal in 2024 that their separation came down to disagreements over having children, and she previously told Spanish newspaper El País that she did not want to become a mother again later in life.

Manganiello, however, claims their IVF plans ended because of his health struggles and concerns about leaving Vergara with a child conceived using an egg donor. He has framed ‘Bloodlines’ as an effort to correct what he sees as false accounts of his life.

Vergara hasn’t addressed the book directly, but her latest social media activity has fans talking. The ‘Modern Family’ star reposted an Instagram Story originally shared by her son, Manolo, that compares the traits of a “good man” with those of a “narcissistic man.”

According to the graphic, good men apologize, set boundaries, tell the truth, and listen. On the other side, narcissistic men are described as gaslighting, lying, blame-shifting, acting grandiose and self-serving, and behaving like Peter Pan.

The post also suggested that narcissistic people may resent those who support them and portray them negatively. When Vergara reshared it, she added nothing more than a clapping hands emoji.

Neither Vergara nor Manolo mentioned Manganiello by name, and it isn’t clear whether the post was aimed at him. Still, as TMZ pointed out, the timing is bound to raise eyebrows given the memoir’s recent headlines.

Manolo, 35, is Vergara’s only child, whom she shares with her first husband, Joe Gonzalez. His decision to share the graphic first, followed by his mother’s quick repost, has led many to read it as a show of family solidarity.

Others have noted how carefully Vergara is handling the situation. Rather than issuing a statement or responding point by point, she appears to be keeping the conversation at arm’s length while letting the repost speak for itself.

The dueling narratives highlight just how differently the former couple remembers their marriage. In past interviews, Vergara pointed to their age gap and differing plans for parenthood, even telling El País that the marriage ended because her husband was younger.

Manganiello’s account paints a far more painful picture of his final years in the relationship, with the actor describing a long and difficult health battle that he says changed his life. For now, Vergara seems content to let a single emoji do the talking rather than engaging in a public back-and-forth.

Whether more will be said remains to be seen. With ‘Bloodlines’ continuing to generate buzz, fans will be watching closely to see if Vergara eventually addresses the claims head-on.

Do you think Sofía Vergara’s repost was a subtle response to Joe Manganiello’s memoir?
