The creator of Solo Leveling, Chugong, has finally spoken about the future of the hit series, and it seems a true sequel might still happen.

Fans have long debated whether Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, written by another author known as Daul, should be considered the official continuation of Jinwoo’s story. However, Chugong has now cleared the air in a new interview.

In a recent discussion with LitRes, a major digital and audiobook platform in Russia, Chugong explained that Ragnarok was never intended to be a direct sequel.

The interview was shared and translated into English by fan account @SoloLevelingGuy on X. When asked about Ragnarok, Chugong said, “Ragnarok was a spin-off created for fanservice. I was curious to see how another author would write Solo Leveling. This story is part of the Solo Leveling universe, but it isn’t a direct continuation of the main plot. It’s more like one of many possible scenarios — similar to Marvel’s parallel universes.”

Chugong also revealed that he hasn’t ruled out writing a new story himself. “And of course, I’m also considering the possibility of writing a sequel myself,” he added. While he didn’t confirm any official plans, this statement has reignited hope among fans who’ve been waiting for Jinwoo’s story to continue.

Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, which focuses on Jinwoo’s son Suho, was released as both a novel and manhwa and gained quick attention for its connection to the original world.

The story follows Suho as he rediscovers his hidden powers and faces new threats from beyond Earth. Though it expands on the universe, fans were divided over whether it felt true to Chugong’s original work.

For now, there’s no confirmation that Chugong’s sequel is in development, but his openness about the idea has fans excited. With Solo Leveling remaining one of the most popular web novels ever written, any continuation would surely make major waves in the community.
