‘Song Sung Blue’ Star Kate Hudson (47) Brings Old Hollywood Glamour to the Academy Museum Gala in Sculptural Armani Privé
Kate Hudson has enjoyed one of the most meaningful years of her career, and her red carpet moments have reflected every bit of that momentum. Twenty-five years after her first Oscar nomination for playing Penny Lane in ‘Almost Famous’, she returned to the Academy Awards race with a Best Actress nod.
The nomination came for Craig Brewer’s ‘Song Sung Blue’, in which Hudson plays Claire Sardina, a Milwaukee hairdresser turned Neil Diamond tribute performer opposite Hugh Jackman. The role also earned her a Golden Globe nomination and gave her a long-awaited chance to sing on screen.
Hudson landed the part after Jackman saw her singing and talking about music on ‘CBS Sunday Morning’ and texted Brewer to recommend her. She says the second time around felt very different from her first nomination.
“I’ve been comparing it to having my third baby,” Hudson told NPR, explaining that she soaked in every moment of the experience in a new way. She also praised the role for letting her play comedy, romance and desire all at once.
At the Oscars in March, she walked the carpet with her mother, Goldie Hawn, wearing a seafoam green Giorgio Armani Privé gown covered in crystal embroidery. She paired it with more than $35 million in rare green diamond jewelry.

Hudson continued her partnership with Armani at the sixth annual Academy Museum Gala on October 17 in Los Angeles. Several outlets shared photos of her arrival, noting how she glowed on the carpet.
She wore Armani Privé spring couture, a strapless champagne-colored gown with a figure-hugging silhouette. The design featured delicate crystal embellishments and dramatic sculptural ruffles that cascaded down one side to the floor.
Hudson accessorized with sparkling drop earrings and wore her long blonde hair in glamorous, side-parted waves. Hello! Magazine described the look as a touch of old Hollywood glamour, a fitting description for the evening’s soft, luminous aesthetic.

The gown quickly earned critical praise. WWD named Hudson to its best-dressed list for the night, alongside Taylor Swift and Sarah Pidgeon. Fans online were equally impressed, praising the gown’s blend of softness and drama. Some still favored her jade Armani Privé Oscars look, but most agreed the champagne couture was among the night’s most elegant arrivals.
Hudson attended not only as a guest but as a member of the gala’s host committee. She joined fellow committee members including Teyana Taylor, Demi Moore, Kirsten Dunst, Greta Lee and Adrien Brody.
The event raises funds for the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, supporting its exhibitions, screenings and educational initiatives. This year’s edition honored Charlize Theron with the Icon Award, Colman Domingo with the Vantage Award and John Carpenter with the Luminary Award, with Swift set to perform.

Hudson is no stranger to the event’s spotlight. At last year’s gala, she chose a strapless white gown, keeping a classic sensibility she has refined further this time around. As the daughter of Oscar winner Goldie Hawn and singer Bill Hudson, Hudson grew up surrounded by both film and music.
‘Song Sung Blue’ finally allowed her to merge those passions, something she had long hoped to do but once feared might derail her acting career. Her elegant gala appearance felt like a celebration of that journey. With a renewed awards profile and a string of standout Armani moments, Hudson is clearly embracing this exciting new chapter.
