The official trailer for Sonic The Hedgehog 2 was finally released by Paramount Pictures at The Game Awards event.

Based on Sega’s popular video-game series, the first Sonic The Hedgehog movie was released in February 2020. The sequel was announced very quickly and it didn’t take long for the cast and crew to film it. Sonic The Hedgehog 2 is now set to hit theaters on April 8, 2022. You can check the official trailer and official synopsis down below:

“After settling in Green Hills, Sonic is ready for more freedom, and Tom and Maddie agree to leave him home while they go on vacation. But, no sooner are they gone, when Dr. Robotnik comes back, this time with a new partner, Knuckles, in search for an emerald that has the power to both build and destroy civilizations. Sonic teams up with his own sidekick, Tails, and together they embark on a journey to find the emerald before it falls into the wrong hands.” — Sonic The Hedgehog 2, official synopsis

Jeff Fowler, who directed the first movie in his directional debut returns to direct a sequel, which is again co-written by Pat Casey and Josh Miller, accompanied by John Whittington who joined the writing team for the sequel. Ben Schwartz returns as the voice of the titular character. The sequel is set to introduce two famous characters – Miles ‘Tails’ Prower, voiced by Colleen O’Shaughnessey, and Knuckles the Echidna, voiced by Idris Elba. James Marsden and Tika Sumpter also return as Tom and Maddie Wachowski, while Jim Carrey returns as the villain Dr. Ivo “Eggman” Robotnik.
