Sony Drops First Trailer for Stephen Curry’s Animated Film ‘GOAT’
Sony Pictures Animation has released a new trailer for Goat, an upcoming animated comedy that centers on a young goat who wants to become a star athlete.
The film is directed by Tyree Dillihay and features a script by Aaron Buchsbaum and Teddy Riley. Sony and Animation Magazine shared the earliest details about the project, which has been in the works for several years.
The story follows Will Harris, a small goat who dreams of making it into the professional roarball league. Roarball is a tough, fast game played by different animal species, and Will sees it as his chance to prove himself.
Sony’s description of the film explains that it takes place in a world entirely populated by animals and focuses on Will trying to make his mark after joining a top team. The studio preview describes the idea with the line, “smalls can ball!”
He's about to change the game.

Caleb McLaughlin voices Will, and he leads a large cast that includes Gabrielle Union, Stephen Curry, Nicola Coughlan, Nick Kroll, David Harbour, Jenifer Lewis, Aaron Pierre, Patton Oswalt, Andrew Santino, Bobby Lee, Eduardo Franco, Sherry Cola, Jelly Roll, and Jennifer Hudson. Many of the characters they play are other roarball athletes or figures connected to the league. Stephen Curry, who also helps produce the film, voices a giraffe player, while Union plays one of the sport’s biggest stars. Hudson voices Will’s mother.
The film started early development years before Sony officially announced it, and casting came together gradually. This year, most of the voice actors were confirmed, and production continued to move forward. The film is now set to arrive in theaters in the United States on February 13, 2026.
The new trailer shows more of the film’s humor and energetic style, giving a quick look at Will’s chase to become the best player in the sport.
