Sony Wanted To Shave J.J. Jameson, But J.K. Simmons Convinced Them To Keep The Mustache
J.K. Simmons, known among the Marvel fans for his iconic role of J.J. Jameson from Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy made a huge return in the post-credit scene of Spider-Man: Far From Home. It’s always great to see the fan-favorite Spider-Man hater, but many fans realized how Jameson looks different, and it’s not only because Simmons in Far From Home is 12 years older than he was in Raimi’s Spider-Man 3.
Many fans realized how Jameson lost most of his recognizable hair now, and that quickly turned into a meme thanks to his famous “I trust my barber” line from the first Spider-Man. Well Jonah, do you still trust him? But what’s even more interesting, Simmons revealed now that Sony wanted for Jonah to be completely shaved, but what’s J.J. Jameson without his signature mustache?
“[I was told:] ‘No, we don’t want you to have the flat-top haircut,’ and I was like, ‘Wait, wait, wait. What?’”
“It was a negotiation then at that point. Obviously, the most important thing is that he’s still the same blowhard and he does have the same damn mustache, close to it, and cigar at least.”
“Certainly, from the creators of this iteration of the story, it’s a very different character. To me, it’s a slightly different character. It’s the same blowhard. The same guy with less hair.”
