According to Deadline, the sequel is said to take place 20 years after the original, following best friends Brooke Davis and Peyton Sawyer, now parents to teens who are facing challenges familiar to the original series like love, insecurities and grief. The outlet also reported that the project hails from writer and executive producer Becky Hartman Edwards and Warner Bros. TV, with Danneel Ackles and husband Jensen Ackles executive producing through their Chaos Machine banner and Danneel in talks to reprise her role as Rachel Gatina.

As for the project that actually brought this new comment to light, ‘Summer’s Last Resort’ is a Tubi original comedy that follows a teen determined to save her mom from another bad relationship, only to accidentally turn a luxury vacation into total chaos. Bush stars alongside Jerry O’Connell and Violet McGraw, with Bush playing free spirited mom Milly opposite O’Connell’s Glenn, who happens to also be her daughter’s vice principal. The film, produced by Blue Ice Pictures and set in the Caribbean but filmed on location in South Africa, reunites ‘Wynonna Earp’ collaborators Emily Andras and Melanie Scrofano as writer and director.
