The Latin American dubbing world is mourning the sudden loss of Alexis Ortega, a Mexican actor and voice artist best known for giving Spider-Man his Spanish voice. Ortega died at the age of 38, according to reports from Beaveronline, with the news later confirmed by members of the dubbing community and several media outlets.

His death reportedly occurred on January 24, though it only became public days later. No cause of death has been shared so far, and Ortega’s family has not released an official statement. The lack of details has left fans and colleagues shocked and searching for answers.

Ortega was born on August 31, 1987, in Mexico. He began working professionally as an actor around 2013 and slowly built a strong reputation in voice acting. Over time, he became one of the most familiar voices in Latin American Spanish dubbing.

Many fans knew him best as the Spanish voice of Peter Parker, also known as Spider-Man, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Ortega voiced the character as played by Tom Holland in major films such as Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Avengers: Infinity War. For many viewers across Latin America, his voice became closely tied to the modern version of the superhero.

He also made a strong impact in animation. Ortega voiced Tadashi Hamada in Big Hero 6 and later returned for Big Hero 6: The Series. His work was praised for sounding natural and emotional, especially in scenes that required warmth and sincerity. He also contributed voice work to other major projects, including Finding Dory and Cars 3.

Outside of dubbing, Ortega appeared on screen as well. One of his most recognized live-action roles was playing a younger version of Jorge “El Burro” Van Rankin in Luis Miguel: The Series. The role showed he could move easily between voice work and physical acting.
