Spider-Man fans finally got the surprise they’ve been waiting for. Sony has shown the first real look at Peter Parker’s brand-new suit in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The reveal came today after yesterday’s short teaser, which only gave quick flashes of the costume. That short clip still went viral, pulling in over 77 million views in just 24 hours.

The new reveal shows details mostly on the torso of the suit, showing off the fresh design in full for the first time. While it’s not the most detailed look yet, it’s enough to get fans talking about what’s changed and what’s stayed the same.

This movie is the next big chapter for Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s being made by Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios, with Sony Pictures taking care of the release. It’s also the 38th movie in the MCU and the fourth solo Spider-Man film starring Tom Holland, coming after 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home.

The story is being brought to life by director Destin Daniel Cretton, with a script from Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, the same team who wrote Holland’s last two Spider-Man movies.

Holland is back as Peter Parker, Zendaya returns as MJ, and Jacob Batalon is once again playing Ned. New cast members include Sadie Sink from Stranger Things, Liza Colón-Zayas, and Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle, better known as The Punisher. Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige teased that Bernthal’s version of Punisher will feel “different” compared to his past, darker versions of the character. Fans can also expect Charlie Cox back as Matt Murdock, also known as Daredevil.

Previously, it’s also been confirmed that Ruffalo will reprise his role of Hulk and Michael Mando will reprise his Scorpion role from Homecoming.

The movie takes place after the events of No Way Home, where Doctor Strange’s spell erased Peter Parker from everyone’s memory. Peter is now keeping a low profile and protecting New York City from everyday criminals while figuring out his place in the world again.

Filming just started today in Glasgow, Scotland, under the working title Blue Oasis. According to the Glasgow Times, several streets in the city center, including Merchant City, George Square, and Trongate, have been turned into New York City for the shoot. Holland apparently enjoyed kicking things off on location, saying it reminded him of the first Spider-Man movie he made. After the Scotland shoot, production will move to Pinewood Studios in England for more filming on soundstages.

Producer Amy Pascal has already hinted that this is just the start of a brand-new trilogy for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. Shooting is set to wrap later this year, and Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled to hit theaters on July 31, 2026, as part of Marvel’s Phase Six.

If this first look at the new suit is anything to go by, the excitement is only going to build from here. Fans will be keeping a close eye on every bit of news until Peter Parker swings back onto the big screen.
