Few films have dominated 2026 quite like ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a script by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, Tom Holland’s fourth solo outing as the web-slinger opened in US theaters on July 31 and quickly became the highest-grossing film of the year.

Its numbers are staggering. Made on a $225 million budget, the film has earned nearly $2.5 billion worldwide, landing in the top 3 highest-grossing films of all time and becoming the highest-grossing movie in domestic box office history.

Now fans are getting a fresh taste of the blockbuster as it prepares to come home. The film’s opening credits sequence has been released online, with a 30-second clip shared on October 5 that quickly made the rounds.

The short clip is a burst of energy. It’s filled with blazing yellow and orange imagery streaked with black, setting an intense tone right from the start. The film’s opening is notable for more than its visuals. ‘Brand New Day’ doesn’t wait long to introduce its first song, with “Wolf Like Me” by TV on the Radio playing over an opening montage that shows what Spider-Man has been up to over the past 4 years.

That montage sets up the film’s premise. ‘Brand New Day’ picks up 4 years after ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’, with Peter Parker living alone after asking Doctor Strange to erase all memory of his identity from the world.

The film takes its title from the 2008 comic book storyline that reset Spider-Man’s status quo. The producers wanted Holland’s Peter to be a proper, street-level Spider-Man for the first time, protecting New York City on his own.

According to Sony’s synopsis, Peter has devoted himself entirely to protecting his city. But as the demands intensify, the pressure sparks a surprising physical evolution that threatens his existence.

Holland leads an impressive cast that includes Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Florence Pugh, Tramell Tillman, Marisa Tomei, and Mark Ruffalo. Michael Mando also appears as Mac Gargan, aka Scorpion.

Michael Giacchino returned to compose the score. He has explained that he intentionally stripped specific notes from the MCU Spider-Man theme to reflect the pieces of Peter’s life he no longer has.

The soundtrack also features songs from Chaka Khan, Tame Impala, Cannons and Bad Bunny. Steve Lacy’s “Oh yeah?” closes out the film during the credits. The timing of the credits release is no coincidence. Sony has confirmed that ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ will be available to rent or buy digitally starting Tuesday, October 6.

Fans will be able to watch it through Apple TV, Prime Video, Fandango at Home, and Sony Pictures Core. That digital release arrives roughly 67 days after the film’s theatrical debut. Physical media is on the way too, with the film hitting 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD on November 17. Because of Sony’s deal with Netflix, the film is expected to stream there first before eventually arriving on Disney+, though no subscription streaming date has been announced.

For those who prefer the big screen, theaters have agreed to keep playing the film on some screens at least until its mid-November disc release. Either way, the opening credits clip is a perfect reminder of why audiences turned out in record numbers.

Will you be watching ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ again when it arrives on digital?
