‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Skips IMAX Release Next Summer—Here’s the Reason Why
Spider-Man: Brand New Day won’t be hitting IMAX screens next summer because of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey.
According to the 2026 IMAX schedule shared on X by Culture Crave, The Odyssey will occupy all IMAX screens from July 17 to August 14, preventing Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which releases July 31, from being shown in the format.

The full IMAX slate for 2026 kicks off on January 23 with the Chris Pratt sci-fi thriller Mercy. March will bring The Bride! and Project Hail Mary, followed by The Super Mario Galaxy Movie and Michael in April.
The summer schedule begins May 8 with Mortal Kombat II, then The Mandalorian and Grogu on May 22, Toy Story 5 on June 19, Supergirl on June 26, Minions 3 on July 1, Moana on July 10, and finally The Odyssey on July 17.
“The Odyssey is a movie unlike the others, as it is the first film to be shot entirely on IMAX’s 70 mm film cameras,” the source explained. Because of this, IMAX will dedicate a full month to the film, delaying other releases from the format, including the next Spider-Man movie.
While fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe might be disappointed, Tom Holland still has a major presence in The Odyssey. He stars as Telemachus, the son of Matt Damon’s Odysseus, in the upcoming epic based on Homer’s ancient Greek poem.
This means audiences won’t get the full IMAX Spider-Man experience next summer, but they’ll still see Holland in action.
