The trailer for “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is already making history. Sony Pictures released it on Wednesday morning, and in just 24 hours, it reached an incredible 718.6 million views, making it the most-watched trailer ever, according to reports.

The previous record was held by “Deadpool and Wolverine,” which had 365 million views in a day. Within eight hours of its release, the “Brand New Day” trailer had already hit 373 million views, beating the record set by “Deadpool 3” during the 2024 Super Bowl. For comparison, the 2021 trailer for “Spider-Man: No Way Home” had 355.5 million views in its first 24 hours.

Not only is this the biggest movie trailer in history, but it also surpasses last year’s trailer for the video game “Grand Theft Auto VI,” which had 475 million views in 24 hours and was the biggest video trailer until now. Sony built excitement by releasing small teaser clips one day before the full trailer dropped.

This is the first time Tom Holland has appeared as Spider-Man since “No Way Home,” which brought together Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in a universe-crossing story. “No Way Home” went on to earn $1.9 billion worldwide.

The official logline for “Brand New Day” reads: “Four years have passed since the events of ‘No Way Home,’ and Peter is now an adult living entirely alone, having voluntarily erased himself from the lives and memories of those he loves. Crime-fighting in a New York that no longer knows his name, he’s devoted himself entirely to protecting his city — a full-time Spider-Man — but as the demands on him intensify, the pressure sparks a surprising physical evolution that threatens his existence, even as a strange new pattern of crimes gives rise to one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced.”

The movie stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, and Mark Ruffalo. Destin Daniel Cretton is directing, with a script by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. Producers include Kevin Feige, Amy Pascal, Avi Arad, and Rachel O’Connor, while Louis D’Esposito and David Cain serve as executive producers.

“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is set to hit theaters on July 31.

This trailer shows just how excited fans are to see Spider-Man back on screen. Breaking records like this proves that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man remains one of the most popular heroes today. What do you think about the trailer? Share your thoughts in the comments.
