‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s’ Cinematographer Has Seemingly Confirmed That Savage Hulk Will Appear in the Movie
It looks like Spider-Man: Brand New Day is shaping up to be more than just another Spider-Man sequel. A surprising character might be swinging, or smashing his way into the film: Savage Hulk.
Brett Pawlak, the cinematographer working on the movie, seems to have let this detail slip. According to his storyboard, Pawlak recently “confirmed” that Savage Hulk will appear in the upcoming film. While we don’t have any details, it didn’t take long for people to start talking.

This isn’t the first time Savage Hulk has been linked to Brand New Day. Back in May, a few industry insiders shared rumors suggesting the same thing. But now that someone involved in the film has hinted at it directly, it feels a lot more real.
For anyone unfamiliar, Savage Hulk is a specific version of the Hulk. He’s very angry, unpredictable, and incredibly strong. Unlike other versions like Professor Hulk, who are more balanced or smart, Savage Hulk is all rage.
He often talks in third person and acts purely on instinct. Think of the Hulk most people picture when they hear “Hulk smash!”
Fans have been wanting a more classic, aggressive version of the Hulk for a long time now. Many were disappointed when the MCU turned Hulk into Professor Hulk, a calm, smart version of the character who talks like Bruce Banner but still looks like the Hulk.
While it made sense for the story in Avengers: Endgame, a lot of fans felt like it took away what made Hulk exciting in the first place. They missed the raw, unpredictable rage that defined earlier versions of the character. Instead of smashing things and losing control, Professor Hulk felt too calm and, to many, just kind of boring.
That’s why people have been hoping for a return to the more savage version of Hulk, the one that’s driven by anger and power, not logic. It’s the version that longtime fans see as the real Hulk.
If he really is in the film, it could mean something big is happening in the story. Brand New Day already has a lot going on. Tom Holland is back as Spider-Man, and the movie will include Zendaya and Jacob Batalon as well. Sadie Sink and Jon Bernthal, who returns as the Punisher, have also joined the cast.
This film has been a long time coming. After No Way Home, there were questions about whether Holland would return at all. At one point, he said he wasn’t sure if he wanted to keep playing Spider-Man into his thirties. But over time, both he and producer Amy Pascal said they were interested in doing more movies together.
Kevin Feige confirmed in late 2021 that work had already started on a new story for Peter Parker. And in 2023, he said the creative team had “big ideas” for the next film. Then in 2024, Destin Daniel Cretton, known for directing Shang-Chi, entered early talks to direct. That news was later confirmed when the movie was officially titled Spider-Man: Brand New Day, with a planned release date of July 31, 2026.
