‘Spider-Man: Far from Home’ Coming to Disney+ on November 3
The ‘Spider-Man’ franchise stands out as Marvel’s most lucrative, boasting numerous standalone movies within the MCU. However, a significant distinction exists between Spider-Man films and the rest of the MCU, as not all of Spidey’s projects are available on Disney+, recognized as the primary hub for Marvel cinematic content.
A significant development is set for November 3, bringing us closer to having all Spider-Man movies on the platform. ‘Far From Home’ will be added to the catalog, leaving only one more movie to complete the collection.
The absence of ‘Far From Home’ on Disney+ initially can be attributed to the complexities of movie distribution rights. Since “Spider-Man: Far From Home” is a product of Sony Pictures, it falls under different distribution agreements compared to films produced by Marvel Studios. While Disney+ offers a broad array of Marvel content, encompassing movies and TV shows, certain titles may be unavailable due to existing licensing agreements.
This is a familiar scenario for fans, as evidenced by the recent addition of some Hulk movies to the platform. The distribution rights for Hulk movies are notably owned by Universal Studios. This ownership arrangement previously hindered Marvel from featuring Hulk in a standalone project, as they couldn’t fully profit from the film’s distribution.
Despite facing criticism, “Far From Home” emerged as a financial triumph, securing the position of the fourth-highest-grossing movie of 2019 and the 24th-highest-grossing movie of all time. Notably, it became the first Spider-Man film to surpass the 1 billion sales mark.
Following the events of “Endgame,” Holland’s Spider-Man endeavors to resume a normal high school life. Joining his classmates on a school trip to Europe, he seeks respite from his superhero responsibilities. However, plans take a turn when Nick Fury enlists him to tackle mysterious elemental creatures wreaking havoc across the continent.
Enter Quentin Beck, aka Mysterio (played by Jake Gyllenhaal), who claims to hail from an alternate Earth and is engaged in battling these creatures. Peter teams up with Mysterio to thwart the threats, only to discover that appearances can be deceiving.
