Jon Bernthal is officially stepping into the big-screen Marvel world, teaming up with Tom Holland for the next Spider-Man movie called Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The movie is set to be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and will begin filming in England during the summer. Fans can expect it to hit theaters on July 31, 2026.

While there isn’t much information available yet since the movie is still in the early stages of production, we do know that Zendaya will be joining Bernthal and Holland by reprising her role as MJ. Some earlier reports suggest her role may be minor, but it’s unclear how much screen time she will have, especially considering the ending of Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Interestingly, this is not the only movie that Bernthal, Holland, and Zendaya will star in that’s supposed to release in 2026. The trio will also be a part of Nolan’s The Odyssey.

The movie is based on the famous poem by Homer about Odysseus, a Greek king. Matt Damon plays Odysseus, who tries to get back home after the Trojan War to see his wife, Penelope. The movie has many stars like Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, and Jon Bernthal.

Nolan started working on this movie in 2024 after his last film, Oppenheimer. They began filming in February 2025 in places like Morocco, Greece, Italy, and the UK. The movie has a big budget of about $250 million, making it Nolan’s most expensive film. It will also be the first big movie filmed fully with IMAX cameras.

The story follows Odysseus’s dangerous trip home, where he meets monsters like the Cyclops, the Sirens, and the witch Circe. His goal is to return to his wife Penelope.

Tom Holland will star as Telemachus, Odysseus’s son. But we currently don’t have info on the roles Zendaya and Bernthal are expected to play.

Filming for The Odyssey started on February 25, 2025, in Aït Benhaddou, Morocco. The movie is being shot by cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema, who is working with Christopher Nolan again. This film is special because it’s the first big movie to use only IMAX film cameras, including a new, lighter version.

In March, the crew filmed in parts of Greece, like Peloponnese and places such as Pylos, Methoni Castle, and some beaches. They also filmed scenes with the Cyclops at these locations. The team worked with a local Greek company to help with the shoot, which lasted about three weeks. The production got a cash rebate for filming in Greece.

After Greece, filming moved to Sicily, Italy, at the Aeolian Islands, especially on Favignana Island, which is mentioned in the original poem. By May, some filming took place on a studio stage in Los Angeles. The movie will also have filming in the United Kingdom, Scotland, Ireland, and Iceland.

The movie will come out in theaters on July 17, 2026.
