Marvel Studios appears to be focusing more on animated content, likely inspired by the huge success of X-Men ’97, which remains one of the highest-rated Marvel shows.
With Eyes of Wakanda in development, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man and What If…? Season 3 set to release soon, there may be another animated series in the works.
Industry insider Daniel Richtman reports that Spider-Man: The Animated Series could be making a comeback.
This matches some rumors we shared a few months ago. Marvel Studios is reportedly working on a Marvel animated universe set in the ’90s, starting with X-Men ’97. There’s a chance they could also make a sequel to Spider-Man: The Animated Series, but that idea is still in the early planning stages.
Brad Winderbaum, Marvel’s head of TV, recently mentioned that they are moving to a real studio and exploring many ideas, even if not all of them will be made.
So, bringing back Spider-Man doesn’t seem too far-fetched, especially since X-Men ’97 has already been greenlit for two more seasons, with Season 2 currently being made and Season 3 in early development.
Recent reports also suggest that Spider-Man: The Animated Series, Iron Man, Fantastic Four, The Incredible Hulk, and Silver Surfer could share the same universe as X-Men ’97, which supports the idea of a revival!
