You probably know that the lineup for this year’s Cannes Film Festvial has been revealed and that we will get some very exciting premieres this year, including but not limited to Wes Anderson’s The Phoenician Scheme, Richard Linklater’s Nouvelle Vague, and Ari Aster’s Eddington.

Among the films expected to make a debut in Cannes was Spike Lee’s new flick, Highest 2 Lowest, which will star Denzel Washington. But, the movie was surprisingly not present on the list which sparked some debate.

Now, Spike Lee himself has decided to clarify things and he confirmed, via social media, whether his new movie is actually going to be shown in Cannes or not. Keep reading to find out more!

Highest 2 Lowest is a crime drama film that will, alongside Washington, star Ilfenesh Hadera, Jeffrey Wright, Ice Spice, ASAP Rocky, Dean Winters, and John Douglas Thompson. The movie will actually be a reimagining of Kurosawa’s 1963 classic High and Low, which, in turn, was based on the novel King’s Ransom by Ed McBain (Evan Hunter).

The movie will be released by A24 and later streamed on AppleTV+, but as said, it was supposed to premiere in Cannes this year. When the movie was not present on the list, many were worried, but Spike Lee himself revealed that the movie will, indeed, premiere in France:
