In 2001, Stan Lee left Marvel and founded his own company, POW! Entertainment, with co-founders Gill Champion and Arthur Lieberman. One of his first projects was Stripperella, an animated series picked up by Paramount’s TNN, which later became Spike TV.

The show, featuring Pamela Anderson as the voice of the main character, was intended to be a comedic satire rather than just adult content. Although Lee came up with the initial concept and character designs, a different team worked on the rest of the show.

Despite its bold title, Lee wanted the series to be a fun, lighthearted cartoon, not explicit. The show also planned to use motion capture technology to accurately depict Anderson’s character.

Stripperella tells the story of Erotica Jones, aka Stripperella, a dancer known for her stunning looks and revealing outfits. She’s often envied by her coworkers for her bust size and has a brother, Chipperella (voiced by Jon Cryer), who lives a double life as a stripper and a secret agent.

Stripperella has superpowers like strength, speed, agility, and some unique abilities, such as breast expansion, skin immunity, and the power to detect lies through her cleavage. Her hair can act as a parachute, and her cleavage can store an endless amount of items.

The show only lasted 13 episodes and received mixed reviews. It was also surrounded by controversy, including a 2003 lawsuit from Janet Clover, also known as “Jazz” or “Stripperella,” who claimed she was the true creator of the character and that Stan Lee had stolen her idea during a private dance session.

Recently, a clip from the show resurfaced online, sparking mixed reactions from fans.

Yes, we can all agree that the animation in the show is impressive, and that’s the first thing that stands out.
