‘Star Wars: The Bad Batch’ Returns With a New Adventure This August
Fans of Star Wars: The Bad Batch won’t have to wait much longer for a new adventure. Even though the show ended over a year ago, the story of Clone Force 99 is continuing in a new novel. The book is called Sanctuary, and it comes out on August 5.
This is the first time the Bad Batch team will appear in a Star Wars novel.
Sanctuary is written by Lamar Giles, the author of Ruin Road. The story takes place after the events of season two, after the “Pabu” episode. By this time, the clones, Hunter, Omega, Wrecker, and Tech, are working with Phee, the pirate hunter. Their job is to gather supplies for the people of Pabu, after the planet was hit by a big tsunami. But things aren’t going smoothly for them.
In the new story, the team finds themselves taking on two different missions at the same time. One mission involves stealing back a rare relic from an auction to return it to its rightful owners. The other mission has them helping a couple who are running from danger. This couple is expecting a baby soon, and the situation becomes more dangerous when an ISB agent begins chasing them.

Hunter, who usually tries to keep things simple, isn’t happy about handling both jobs at once, but they don’t really have a choice. According to what Giles told Polygon, he wanted the novel to feel like more of the show. “The feeling of an extended bonus episode where our favorite characters got exciting moments that felt fresh and familiar. I wanted it to feel like seeing old friends after some time apart amid an intense adventure,” he said.
An early preview of the book shows the clones trying to play it safe at the auction, but fans can probably guess that things won’t stay quiet for long.
Sanctuary will be released on August 5. And for readers who want more Star Wars stories in book form, there’s also a young adult novel about Finn and Jannah called The Last Order, written by Kwame Mbalia, coming on October 21.
