Starfox (Eros) vs Thanos: Who Would Win and Why?

What’s more fun than a bit of sibling rivalry, right? Well, we’re going a bit deeper into space, to the realm of the Eternals, as we are going to compare the powers and abilities of Starfox, also known as Eros, and his brother, Thanos, the Mad Titan. In this article, you’re going to find out who would win and why.

Starfox and Thanos are equally strong. Thanos would win with the Infinity Gauntlet and is physically more powerful, but in a one-on-one fight, Starfox could abuse Thanos’ emotions towards Lady Death as well as his nihilist principles and make him do as he pleased. This is why they are on equal terms, ultimately.

The rest of this article is going to be divided into three sections. The first two are going to bring an overview of the two characters, in whose scopes we are going to compare their powers, including their signature techniques. Finally, we’re going to bring you a detailed analysis of the two characters to determine which one would win in a direct clash.

Starfox and His Powers

Starfox, also known as Eros Nikeed’r, is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by Mike Friedrich and Jim Starlin, he first appeared in 1973. He is a member of a derived human race known as Eternals, who live in the far reaches of space.

He was born on Titan, like Thanos, as the son of Mentor. Where Eros serves as the superhero Starfox, he is opposed by his insane brother Thanos, just like the rest of the universe.

Who Is Marvel's Starfox (Eros)? Thanos' Eternal Brother Explained!

Physical Abilities

Starfox the Eternals, which gives him a lot of specific abilities from the very beginning. His body has been strengthened by cosmic energy to age much slower than most humanoids. He is superhumanly strong and resistant to damage and immune to earthly diseases.

He can withstand falls from great heights or repeated blows with superhuman strength that would severely injure or kill a normal human without harming himself.

He is by no means invulnerable, however, and can be wounded by weapons made of common materials such as bullets or knives. His general resistance to injury is somewhat less than that of the average Eternal, but like any Eternal, he possesses exceptional healing abilities and, as mentioned earlier, immunity to any earthly disease.

Psionic Abilities

Starfox can psionically stimulate the pleasure centers in the brains of those close to him, causing them to calm down and be open to suggestions made through his persuasive powers.

It is believed that when there is physical contact and direct line of sight between the subject and the target, Starfox can use this euphoria effect to make one or more people fall in love with him, objects or people of his choosing, or simply to make others feel comfortable in your presence.

Notably, the power of euphoria does not work on his brother Thanos, although he has other limited effects on him. His psionic powers are possessed by all Eternals to some degree, but he has developed them in his own unique way. Starfox’s mental powers do not work on beings whose brains do not have pleasure centers.

Other Powers and Abilities

These powers were later turned off at Eros’ request to prevent them from being abused. In the Captain Marvel series, Starfox also displayed the ability to manipulate gravity, simulating psychokinesis. Starfox has a limited command of 500 alien languages.

Despite being an Eternal, Starfox is not as powerful as his Earth-born cousins, as the original titanic Eternals separated from their Earthly brethren before Kronos’ experiments increased the Eternals’ energies. Starfox can at least join with the other Eternals to form an existing Uni-Mind, with 36 of the Titanium Eternals so far having been proven incapable of forming one of their own.

Thanos and His Powers

Thanos is a fictional supervillain appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by writer and artist Jim Starlin, the character first appeared in The Invincible Iron Man #55 (February 1973).

Physical Abilities

Thanos has superhuman physical abilities and intelligence and is immune to any type of disease; his aging is blocked upon reaching adulthood and has accelerated healing processes.

Through very advanced cybernetic grafts he has increased his physical prowess to far exceed that of the strongest of the Eternals and, after having resurrected him, Death has amplified these abilities making them immeasurable if not limitless.

He has, in fact, proved, able to reject with a single punch a furious frontal attack by the Hulk, smoothly subdue Beta Ray Bill and Ronan the Accuser (also destroying the Universal Weapon of the second), to easily defeat the Silver Surfer, to fight with Thor while the latter was powered by the Gem of Power and, giving full vent to its power, to destroy entire planets with the power of its blows alone.

Further increasing his strength thanks to a special external energy source, he even managed to face Tyrant in combat. He was hit by three screams from Black Bolt and Norrin Radd’s rays without being injured and, during the fight with the God of Thunder described above, a series of furious attacks he launched caused only a slight loss of blood from the nose.

He has also withstood blows of planetary power, exposure to an artificial singularity and even the rays of Odin and Galactus. He is also an expert in hand-to-hand combat and in the mystical arts to the point of being able to curse Deadpool in a similar way to what Death did to Thanos himself by banishing him from the realm of his beloved.

Energy and Matter Manipulation

Among his main powers is that of generating and manipulating cosmic energy at will, which he uses to further increase his strength or by releasing it in other forms.

The maximum range of this faculty is unknown, but with his attacks, he was able to stun Thor and Hulk and even knock down Galactus by slightly damaging his armor; by joining his forces with those of the Intermediary, he managed to free the latter from the prison where Master Order and Lord Chaos had relegated him.

He also possesses limited ability to manipulate matter, having turned Skragg to stone on one occasion, and great telepathic powers, having been shown to be able to withstand the psychic attacks of Dragoluna and Mantis, to force the Hulk to attack the other Avengers, of to induce the Anti-Man to destroy the cell in which he was locked up and even to drive the Priests of Pama mad.

He is also able to use a psychic technique called Time Mind Sync Warp, once used against Drax the Destroyer in Captain Marvel (Volume 1) #28, which brings the victim’s mind into a dimension of terror that causes blackout or death.

Weapons

The Mad Titan does often make use of a special techno-mystical throne, with which he possesses a powerful telepathic bond, thanks to which he is able to generate impenetrable energy barriers, teleport wherever he wants, and fly at super-luminal speeds.

He also has a state-of-the-art time machine, which he called the “Time Probe”, and a fleet of powerful spaceships including the Sanctuary, the Demeter, and the Dreadnaught-666.

He even built the prototype of the special Stasis Rifle, a weapon capable of firing a single but powerful shot that locks the target inside an impenetrable cube of energy inside which it lies in a state of stasis, and has its service an army of state-of-the-art drones with various functions.

For a while, he was also in possession of the Infinity Gauntlet, thanks to which he was essentially omnipotent.

Starfox vs Thanos: Who Would Win?

The answer to this question depends on how these two characters approach the fight. In terms of physical strength, Starfox is far inferior to Thanos, but they’re both Eternals so that is not a deciding factor. If Thanos were to use the Infinity Gauntlet in the fight, Starfox wouldn’t stand a chance. But that is just one possible scenario.

Starfox is a very dangerous Eternal and due to his ability to control the emotions of others, he is a force to be reckoned with (which is why it is great that he sided with the good guys). If he fought Thanos one-on-one without any enhancements, we even think that he could win, potentially abusing Thanos’ emotions towards Lady Death and making him do as he pleased.

This is why, essentially, we have this one down as a draw. It also makes sense, seeing how they’re brothers and are, nominally at least, of equal strength.
