Stellan Skarsgård Reveals Son Faces Bullying Over “Nepo Baby” Label
Stellan Skarsgård recently opened up about a personal struggle his youngest son is facing at school. In an interview with Vulture, the actor revealed that his 13-year-old son, Kolbjörn, has been bullied by classmates because of his famous family.
Some of the kids have been calling him a “nepo baby,” a term used for children of celebrities.
“My 13-year-old, Kolbjörn, the youngest, suffers from that,” Skarsgård said. “When his pals at school call him nepo baby, he gets so sad. He doesn’t have any friends at school. He gets isolated. Cruel kids — or cruel and ignorant. But it is such a bull**** thing. Because nobody would hire you, at least not for anything good, if you’re not good enough” Stellan said.
The Skarsgård family has a long history in acting. Stellan himself is a veteran actor with decades of work in both Swedish and international cinema.
He is known for roles in films like Good Will Hunting, Mamma Mia!, and several Marvel movies as Dr. Erik Selvig. Acting clearly runs in the family.
His sons Alexander and Bill Skarsgård have become well-known actors in their own right. Alexander has starred in shows like Big Little Lies and movies including The Northman, while Bill gained global fame for his chilling performance as Pennywise in the It movies.
Despite the public attention the family receives, being in a famous household can have challenges, as Stellan noted. He stressed that while some may think having celebrity parents automatically gives a career boost, it does not guarantee success. The industry still requires talent and hard work to thrive.
Skarsgård’s comments shed light on how even children of successful actors can face difficulties growing up in the spotlight. For Kolbjörn, dealing with bullying at school has been painful, and Stellan hopes to set the record straight about the realities of the industry.
