Darrell Sheets, best known for his role on Storage Wars, has died at the age of 67. His death was confirmed by the Lake Havasu City Police Department in Arizona after he was found at his home in Lake Havasu City.

Authorities said he was discovered early in the morning on April 22. Police reported that the circumstances involved what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Officials added that the case is still under investigation, and further details have not been released. The Mohave County Medical Examiner is handling the next steps in the review.

Police also asked the public for help and encouraged anyone with relevant information to contact them directly.

News of his death was also acknowledged by A&E, the network behind Storage Wars. In a statement shared with USA TODAY, the company expressed sadness and described Sheets as an important part of the show’s history. They said, “We are saddened by the passing of a beloved member of our Storage Wars family, Darrell ‘The Gambler’ Sheets. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”

Sheets became a familiar face on Storage Wars after joining the series when it premiered in 2010. The show followed people bidding on storage units in hopes of finding valuable items inside. He stood out for his bold auction style and was often called “The Gambler” because he was willing to take big risks during bids.

Born in California in 1958, Sheets later moved to Arizona. Over his TV career, he appeared in more than 160 episodes of the series. In later years, his appearances became less frequent after he suffered a heart attack in 2019.

Outside of television, he stepped away from storage auctions and ran an antiques shop in Arizona.

He is survived by his children, including his son Brandon Sheets, who also appeared on Storage Wars, and his daughter Tiffany Shane Sheets. He had often spoken about passing on his experience in the storage buying world to his son.

The news has brought reactions from fans of the long-running reality series, many of whom followed Sheets for years on television.

This is very sad news for longtime viewers of Storage Wars. Darrell Sheets was one of the most recognizable faces on the show, and many fans grew up watching him take risks at auctions. Situations like this also remind us that public figures still have very personal lives behind the screen. What do you think about his passing and his time on the show?
