Canadian director and producer Shawn Levy is currently best known for two things. The first one is that he executive produced and directed the third and fourth episodes of each season of Netflix’s Stranger Things, and he also worked with Ryan Reynolds on last year’s Free Guy and this year’s The Adam Project. Following that, Levy has been picked by Marvel Studios to direct the upcoming Deadpool 3, in which Ryan Reynolds is set to reprise the role of Merc with a Mouth.

But before Levy reunites with Reynolds on their biggest project yet, the director said that he would like for Ryan to show up in the upcoming fifth season of Stranger Things, which is set to be the final season of the series. While promoting currently the newest fourth season of the series, Levy called Reynolds to get ready for the fifth season.

“I want to see a Ryan Reynolds cameo in anything. The truth is, my career over the past half-decade has been defined by Stranger Things and my collaborations with Ryan, so it would be deeply trippy but satisfying to see my two worlds collide. So, Ryan Reynolds, get ready for season five.” — Shawn Levy for The Hollywood Reporter

Levy and Reynolds worked on last year’s action-comedy Free Guy, which grossed $331 million worldwide, and the sequel is currently in development. Earlier this year Netflix released The Adam Project, on which Levy and Reynolds also worked together. Levy is now attached to direct Deadpool 3, after Tom Miller and David Leitch directed the first two Deadpool movies, respectively. Levy is the executive producer and one of the directors of the Netflix series Stranger Things, for which the first volume of Season 4 was released last Friday.

Stranger Things 4 Volume 2 is set to drop on Netflix on July 1, 2022. The fifth season is set to be the final season of the series.
