‘Super Mario Galaxy’ Movie Teaser Reveals Fire Mario and Luigi Before Sunday’s Exclusive First Look
Nintendo is giving fans a sneak peek at The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Sunday, January 25. The company announced that the presentation will be part of a special Nintendo Direct at 6 a.m. PT and will focus only on the movie. No video game news will be shared during the event, according to Nintendo.
The announcement came with a new image of Mario and Luigi in their Fire forms. In the games, this power-up comes from a Fire Flower and lets the brothers shoot fireballs. Fans on social media are already excited to see how these classic abilities will appear in the animated film from Illumination.

Since the first trailer came out in November, Nintendo has confirmed several new cast members. Brie Larson will voice Princess Rosalina, the guardian of the cosmos, and Benny Safdie will play Bowser Jr., the heir to the Fire Kingdom. Chris Pratt returns as Mario, Charlie Day as Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, and Jack Black will again voice Bowser.

Chris Pratt recently said that the movie has more surprises that haven’t been revealed yet. “I’m not allowed to say what they are, but yes, there are some really incredible… Well, I think some of them have been released in the trailer – Rosalina, Bowser Jr. – and then there’s even a couple more that are not in the trailer that people should be excited to see,” he said.
The film is set to hit theaters on April 3. The story appears to follow the Super Mario Galaxy game series, taking Mario, Luigi, and the gang on a space adventure with planets and gravity-based action.
This update shows Nintendo is leaning fully into the Galaxy theme, which could make for some exciting visuals and creative action scenes. With Rosalina and Bowser Jr. joining the main cast, the movie is adding fresh characters to the mix. Fans are also hoping to finally see Yoshi make his proper big-screen debut.
