Sydney Sweeney is back as Millie Calloway, and production on ‘The Housemaid’s Secret’ keeps moving through New York and New Jersey. The thriller sequel officially got underway in October, when a short clip showed a Lionsgate Stage 1 sign along with Sweeney and her new co-stars.

The first film was a holiday hit for Lionsgate, grossing $126.4 million in the US and $400.5 million worldwide on a reported $35 million budget. That success fast-tracked a follow-up, and fans have been tracking the cast’s every move since cameras started rolling.

The latest set photos show Sweeney with ‘Off Campus’ star Stephen Kalyn. As Page Six shared, the 2 were spotted hand-in-hand while filming scenes at Hunter College in New York, in photos credited to BACKGRID.

In the images, Sweeney wears a tan jacket and jeans and smiles as she walks beside Kalyn, who is dressed in a dark suit and pink tie and carrying a briefcase. Another shot from the same shoot shows the pair sharing a kiss next to production equipment.

These moments come from the story, not a real-life romance. Kalyn plays Brock, a lawyer who starts dating Millie as she tries to settle into a normal life after years of rescuing women from abusive husbands.

According to PinkNews, Brock knows nothing about Millie’s criminal past, which sets the stage for tension once her secrets start to surface. few other outlets noted that the pair were also photographed kissing on a Manhattan street a few days earlier, and that the scene is part of the film.

The production spent weeks in New Jersey before moving into Manhattan. The Hoboken Girl reported that crews filmed on Garden Street in Hoboken in mid-October, where Sweeney shot scenes with Michele Morrone, and a local coffee shop closed for the day for filming.

Earlier in October, Kalyn was spotted around Hoboken, and the production also filmed at William Paterson University in Wayne. Morrone is reprising his brief role as Enzo, the groundskeeper from the first film, and photos from the shoot show him kissing Sweeney’s character on the forehead.

Kirsten Dunst joins the cast as Wendy Garrick, with Paul Anthony Kelly as Douglas Garrick and Brittany Snow as Marybeth. Paul Feig returns as director, and Rebecca Sonnenshine is back to adapt Freida McFadden’s bestselling novel.

The story follows Millie as she takes a job keeping house for a woman she’s never allowed to see. What she finds behind a locked door threatens to expose secrets even darker than her own, and Sweeney is also producing through her company, Honey Trap.

For Kalyn, the role is the latest step after a breakout year. The 28-year-old Canadian actor plays Dean Di Laurentis in Prime Video’s ‘Off Campus’, which Prime Video says reached 36 million viewers worldwide in its first 12 days.

He has also appeared in ‘Gen V’ and the ‘Cruel Intentions’ revival, and he got his start on Canadian TV in ‘Transplant’ and ‘Murdoch Mysteries’. Prime Video has also tapped him and Mika Abdalla to lead the second season of ‘Off Campus’.

Fans will have to be patient for the finished film. Lionsgate has set ‘The Housemaid’s Secret’ for theaters on December 17, 2027, giving the sequel the same holiday window that helped make the original a hit.
