Sydney Sweeney opened up in a recent Cosmopolitan interview about what she values in a partner and how her love life has changed since her split from ex-fiancé Jonathan Davino.

The 28-year-old actress, known for her roles in Euphoria and The Housemaid, said she looks for someone adventurous and family-oriented. “Athletic and outgoing and funny. I’m a sporty girl, so someone needs to be able to climb a mountain with me, go skydiving with me. And someone who loves their family. I love myself a man…” Sweeney explained.

She and Davino were together for over seven years, keeping much of their relationship private. “I was very private. No one would ever see us. I think it’s important to have some things for myself,” she said. They started dating in 2018, got engaged in 2022, and ended their relationship in March 2025. Sweeney emphasized that she wanted to experience love on her own terms, even with the public watching her every move.

Since the breakup, Sweeney admitted that getting back into dating has been difficult. “I spent months crying my eyes out,” she said. She has never used dating apps and finds it hard to meet people casually like her non-famous friends.

She also joked about the endless tabloid rumors. “I wake up and I find out I’m dating a different guy anytime I stand in a room where there’s a single man,” she quipped. While rumors linked her to music executive Scooter Braun, Sweeney has reportedly moved on.

Professionally, Sweeney’s career is thriving. Her psychological thriller The Housemaid, directed by Paul Feig and starring Amanda Seyfried and Brandon Sklenar, was a hit in late 2025 and has already been greenlit for a sequel. She also transformed physically to play boxing legend Christy Martin in the biopic Christy, earning praise for her authentic and powerful performance.

Looking ahead, Sweeney has a busy 2026. She will portray Kim Novak in the biopic Scandalous!, directed by Colman Domingo, and will appear in Netflix’s live-action Gundam film. Fans are also anticipating her return as Cassie Howard in the third season of Euphoria, premiering April 12. She is also involved in the sci-fi reboot Barbarella and the thriller Echo Valley.

Sweeney’s honesty about love shows the challenges of dating while living in the public eye. Many celebrities struggle to balance privacy with fame, and her story reflects that reality.
