Sydney Sweeney made a striking appearance at Variety’s “Power of Women” event on Wednesday, October 29. The 28-year-old actress wore a sheer silver gown that turned heads on the red carpet.

She kept her accessories simple and chose neutral makeup, while her blonde hair was styled in a sleek bob with a side part.

Earlier that week, Sweeney had revealed a new hairstyle at the AFI Fest premiere of her movie Christy on October 25.

At that event, her platinum hair was curled and parted in the middle, paired with a pastel-pink Miu Miu halter dress. Her colorist, Jacob Schwartz, told Vogue that the actress had been “looking for a change.” He added, “She wanted to have a big hair moment for the red carpet to support her new movie, Christy. It felt like the perfect time to do something bold.”

Her longtime hairstylist, Glen Coco, also commented on Sweeney’s transformation. “She dramatically transformed herself to play boxer Christy Martin in the biopic,” he said. “I wanted to morph her into this updated version of herself in real life. Something new and fresh to close out the rest of the year.”

Sweeney gained 30 pounds for her role as Christy Martin. She told Vanity Fair in September that her body had changed significantly during filming. “I didn’t fit in any of my clothes,” she said. “I’m usually a size 23 in jeans, and I was wearing a size 27. My boobs got bigger. And my butt got huge. It was crazy! I was like, ‘Oh, my god.’” She described the experience as “amazing” and added, “I was so strong, like crazy strong.”

As she promotes the film, Sweeney is embracing her confidence. In a Variety interview, she said, “I play a lot of very divisive characters, and I think that a lot of people think they know me, but they don’t. So when people think, ‘Ah, she’s a sex symbol,’ or ‘She’s leaning into that,’ I’m like, ‘No, I just feel good and I’m doing it for myself and I feel strong.’”

She added, “I hope that I can inspire other women to be confident and just flaunt what they got and feel good because you shouldn’t have to apologize or hide or cover up in any room.”
