Deadpool & Wolverine was recently released and is already breaking box office records, emerging as one of the most profitable MCU films in recent times. A significant factor in its success is the return of Marvel’s legacy characters, including Evans’ Human Torch, Garner’s Elektra, and Snipes’ Blade.

Additionally, Reynolds and Levy made a concerted effort to reunite the crew from previous Deadpool films, further contributing to the movie’s triumph.

Notably, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, Briana Hildebrand, Shioli Kutsuna, and Stefan Kapičić all reprised their roles, but T.J. Miller’s Weasley was conspicuously absent.

This omission is likely related to Miller’s recent legal issues and allegations of sexual abuse. Miller attempted to downplay his absence by claiming a lack of interest in the movie. Despite their past collaboration, Reynolds and Miller reportedly had a strained relationship, though Reynolds has never commented on it personally. Miller, however, discussed the matter on The Adam Carolla Show a year ago, suggesting that “fame” had negatively impacted Reynolds.

I think that Ryan Reynolds, Kate thinks he hates [me], Kate thinks he’s super frenemy with me, or even just that he hates me. I could see him hating me. But I said on the Hot Ones, I went on Hot Ones and I said that…you know, what was great about Deadpool is they covered up his handsome face. Beacuse he’s so distracting he must know this. But It’s so distracting to look at him and guys don’t want to laugh at him beacuse he looks like the guy that f**** your high-school girlfriend. And then girls don’t really want to laugh at him they just think he’s cute so they’ll just look at him like Ryan Gosling. Girls don’t care if he’s talking or acting. […] But he is such a good comedian that when you cover his face, he is so quick, he is so funny, so I love him as a comedian, but I think after he got super super famous from the first Deadpool, then he, things kinda changed.

Miller also admitted that he would not work with the actor again, citing some unsettling past experiences.

Would I work with him again? No. I would not work with him again. But I’ve said that about Michael Bay, and now we’re friends, and now I would work with him again, but I think Michael Bay is different. And Michael Bay worked on a movie with Ryan Reynolds also, so he has a very specific opinion of Ryan Reynolds. And so, that was a good part of our last conversation. But I sort of wish him well beacuse he’s so good at Deadpool and I think it’s weird that he hates me and I think some people do know he hates me. We had a really weird moment on Deadpool where he said “let’s do one more take” and everyone’s like “okay” and I was like “yeah I’m fine” and then, as the character he was horrifically mean to me, as if I was Weasel.

He was like “You know what’s great about you Weasel, you’re not the star but you do just enough exposition that it’s funny and then we can leave and get back to the real movie.”

Miller also revealed that there was a lot of “riffing” happening on set.

He’s a great improviser. […] But that’s what’s weird about him, and I’ve met other people who can confirm this, he did that and it was weird, and it doesn’t bother me. […] I just kind of listened to it and thought it was weird, and then got off stage beacuse then they finally yelled like “Ccut” and then I got to a station and walked over and the whole crew was acting weird. Then I went up to Kate and I was like that was weird right, and she was “of course, it was f***** weird, it was insane.” It was insane and everybody was looking at each other like “what the f*** was he doing.”

Miller also commented that Reynolds is likely insecure and accused him of projecting a carefully crafted public image.

I think he’s kind of an insecure dude. He’s really nice but I mean his Twitter bio is “showing you the parts of me that Focus Tested the best in focus groups” and I’m not sure that he’s joking. I think that might actually be his real sentiment there.

Reynolds and the rest of the Deadpool & Wolverine crew have not commented on Weasel’s absence, but they did explain why some other characters, like Brolin’s Cable, were not included.
