Rurouni Kenshin
Rurouni Kenshin is a popular Japanese manga (comic book) series written and illustrated by Nobuhiro Watsuki. It was first published in 1994 and ran until 1999 and has since been adapted into an anime series, several anime films, and live-action films. The story is set in Japan during the Meiji era and follows the journey of a former assassin named Kenshin Himura, who becomes a wandering samurai known as a “Rurouni.” After a past filled with violence and bloodshed, Kenshin seeks to atone for his past sins by protecting the innocent and upholding justice without killing. Throughout the series, Kenshin encounters enemies and allies, including former comrades from his assassin days, and battles them using his unique sword style, which employs a reverse-blade sword designed not to kill. Along the way, he forms friendships and confronts his past in order to find a peaceful path forward.
