Taylor Swift Raves Over Leonardo DiCaprio’s New Film: “How Are They Going to Split the Oscar?”
Taylor Swift might be celebrating the huge success of her new album and the record-breaking release of her concert film, but she’s also been catching up on movies. During her recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the singer shared the last movie she watched, Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another.
Swift couldn’t stop talking about how much she loved the film. “Chase Infiniti and Teyana Taylor—how are they going to split the Oscar? Benicio was so funny, and Leo was hilarious. We are so lucky to be alive at the same time as Paul Thomas Anderson,” she said, giving major praise to the cast and director.

One Battle After Another is an action thriller written and directed by Anderson, inspired by the 1990 novel Vineland by Thomas Pynchon. The movie stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, Benicio del Toro, Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor, and Chase Infiniti. It tells the story of a former revolutionary who must save his daughter from a corrupt military officer.
The film premiered in Los Angeles on September 8, before hitting theaters nationwide on September 26. It’s been a big hit both critically and commercially, earning $102 million worldwide and becoming Anderson’s highest-grossing movie to date.

Critics have been calling it one of Anderson’s best works. According to Rotten Tomatoes, 95% of reviews are positive, with critics calling it “an epic screwball adventure teeming with awe-inspiring action set pieces.” On Metacritic, the movie holds a score of 95 out of 100, showing near-universal acclaim.
Reviewers from major outlets have also shared glowing comments. Brian Tallerico from RogerEbert.com described it as “remarkably propulsive” and “eventually moving.” Justin Chang from The New Yorker highlighted its “tenderness and fury”, while The New York Times critic Manohla Dargis called it “one for the ages, wild and thrilling.”
Not everyone was completely on board, though. William Bibbiani from The Wrap felt the film was “scattershot” and “overly long,” saying Anderson seemed more focused on “taking cheap potshots at the film’s real-world analogues” than fully exploring them.
Still, with critics raving and Taylor Swift declaring her love for it, One Battle After Another seems to be one of those rare movies that gets both star power and substance right.
