Taylor Zakhar Perez Heats Up VMAN with Bold New Cover Look
Taylor Zakhar Perez, the star who captured hearts in Red, White & Royal Blue, is back in the spotlight with a striking new cover for VMAN magazine. The actor, known for his charm and charisma, spoke with Barry Pierce about stepping into the sequel, his sudden fame, and his move into producing.
In Red, White & Royal Wedding, Perez returns as Alex Claremont-Diaz, reuniting with Nicholas Galitzine’s Prince Henry as the couple navigates life as a newly minted royal pair. Perez described returning to the role as “reuniting with an old friend who’s grown up alongside you.”
He explained that Alex has matured since the first film, moving from self-discovery to confronting bigger questions about life, love, and identity.

Working with director Jamie Babbit has been a highlight for Perez. “Jamie has a way of creating a space for play; she really allows you to bring your character’s choices to life while being extremely additive to your performance,” he said.
The actor noted that the cast, including Rachel Hilson and Uma Thurman, share a close connection that enhances their on-screen relationships. “Uma is such a powerhouse acting partner who is wildly present and cares about the craft,” he added.
Perez reflected on the sudden attention he received after the first film. The Emmy nomination for Red, White & Royal Blue brought a new level of scrutiny, which he said could either overwhelm or strengthen you. “It definitely forced me to get crystal clear on my boundaries, to keep protecting my peace, and to trust that the only voice worth listening to consistently is my own,” he shared.
Beyond acting, Perez is expanding his work behind the camera. He is producing multiple projects, including an adaptation of an Ali Hazelwood novel, the upcoming The Silver State, and a sports film with the team behind AIR. “Producing is where I’m really stretching myself these days, and honestly, it’s one of the most fulfilling things I’ve ever done,” he explained. Perez emphasized the importance of shaping stories and having agency in his career.
Romance remains a core part of Perez’s career, from The Kissing Booth to the Red, White & Royal Blue series. Yet he is eager to explore other genres. “I want range: deep character studies, taut thrillers, grounded dramas that push me into new territory,” he said. He added that he would still embrace a romance that challenges the genre or centers on underrepresented voices.
With his VMAN cover showcasing his style and charisma, Perez is clearly in command of both his image and his career. He continues to grow as an actor and producer, proving that he is more than just a heartthrob.
