[Teaser] ‘Boots’ Teases Heartfelt Coming-of-Age Journey Ahead of October Release
Netflix has released the first teaser for its new series Boots, which will premiere on October 9. The show stars Miles Heizer and Vera Farmiga and is inspired by Greg Cope White’s memoir The Pink Marine.
Boots is an eight-episode dramedy that blends comedy with coming-of-age struggles. It takes place in the 1990s, inside the world of the US Marine Corps, back when being gay in the military was still banned.
The story follows Cameron Cope, played by Heizer, a closeted teenager who signs up for boot camp with his best friend Ray McAffey, played by Liam Oh. Ray is the son of a decorated Marine and feels pressure to live up to his father’s standards, but boot camp shakes him in ways he didn’t expect.

Cameron, meanwhile, is running from his chaotic home life. His mother Barbara, played by Vera Farmiga, is a narcissist who is always in trouble because of her choices. When Cameron leaves for the Marines, Barbara starts to lose her footing without him around.
The series also introduces Sgt. Sullivan, played by Max Parker, a tough Recon Marine decorated for his service. Sullivan sees a lot of himself in Cameron and tries to prepare him for the personal battles ahead.
Boots mixes raw emotions with humor, showing how a diverse group of recruits deal with the highs and lows of training. The story is about friendship, identity, and finding out who you really are, even in a system that wants you to stay hidden or fall in line.
The cast is large and includes Cedrick Cooper, Ana Ayora, Angus O’Brien, Dominic Goodman, Kieron Moore, Nicholas Logan, Rico Paris, Blake Burt, Logan Gould, Zach Roerig, Johnathan Nieves, Brandon Tyler Moore, Ivan Hoey Jr., Anthony Marble, Joy Osmanski, Brett Dalton, Jack Kay, and Troy Leigh-anne Johnson.
Boots was created by Andy Parker and Jennifer Cecil, with Parker also serving as co-showrunner. Norman Lear executive produced along with Brent Miller, Rachel Davidson, Scott Hornbacher, and Peter Hoar, who also directed episodes.
The first teaser is now live, giving a glimpse of the tone of the series, which mixes sharp wit with plenty of heart. Netflix confirmed that Boots will arrive on the platform October 9.
