Terrifying Galactus Steals the Show in Early Reactions to ‘Fantastic Four: First Steps’

Early reactions from test screenings of Fantastic Four: First Steps are reportedly rolling in, and it sounds like Marvel fans have a lot to look forward to, especially when it comes to Galactus.

Ralph Ineson, known for his roles in The Green Knight and Game of Thrones, voices the cosmic villain, and viewers are calling his performance “terrifying” and the highlight of the movie.

This version of Galactus is a big deal for longtime fans. Unlike the 2007 Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, where Galactus was just a giant cloud, First Steps brings him to life with a look straight out of the comics.

He’s got the iconic purple armor and massive helmet, and his presence is downright chilling. One early viewer described a scene where “Galactus peers through the windows of a skyscraper,” casting a massive shadow over New York City.

The movie itself has a unique vibe. Set in a retro-futuristic 1960s world, it blends classic sci-fi with cosmic horror. Director Matt Shakman, who previously worked on WandaVision, seems to be leaning into a “Lovecraftian” tone, giving the film a distinct personality that sets it apart from other Marvel movies.

Fantastic Four: First Steps hits theaters on July 25, 2025, and it looks like it’s going to be a wild ride. With a terrifying Galactus, a unique setting, and a fresh take on Marvel’s First Family, this could be the cosmic adventure fans have been waiting for.
