Terrifying New Animatronics Take Over in First ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s 2’ Trailer
The trailer for Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 has just been released, and it looks like fans are in for an even scarier ride this time around. In the first full look at the movie, the killer animatronics are back, and they’re not staying inside Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza anymore.
The new footage opens with McKenna Grace and a group of people exploring the remains of an old Freddy’s restaurant. As you’d expect, things go bad quickly. The animatronics start moving, stalking, and attacking again, and this time, the danger feels bigger. A lot bigger.
The trailer also shows that Abby, Mike, and Vanessa are returning, and once again they’re pulled into the nightmare. Freddy himself appears, asking Abby for help, which drags her and her brother Mike back into a world filled with haunted robots and deadly secrets. And this time, it looks like the animatronics aren’t trapped in one building—they’re out in the world.
Actor Josh Hutcherson, who plays Mike, gave a hint at what fans can expect in this sequel. In an interview, he said, “It’s much bigger, the stakes are higher. There’s more animatronics being brought in, different animatronics being brought in, and the world just opens up in a big way. I think the fans are gonna flip for it. It’s gonna be a lot of fun with the source. It’s gonna be scarier, too, actually.”
The movie is being directed by Emma Tammi and written by Scott Cawthon, the creator of the original video game series. It’s a direct follow-up to the first Five Nights at Freddy’s movie, which came out in 2023. Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Lail, Piper Rubio, and Matthew Lillard are all back for the sequel.
New cast members like Skeet Ulrich, Wayne Knight, McKenna Grace, and Teo Briones have joined the movie as well, though their roles haven’t been revealed yet.
Cawthon originally talked about the idea for a second movie back in 2018, saying it would follow the second game if the first movie did well. Hutcherson confirmed the sequel was happening in January 2024, and by April that year, Blumhouse Productions officially gave it the green light.
Filming started in November 2024 and finished in February 2025. Jim Henson’s Creature Shop is back again to handle the animatronics. According to Universal Pictures, the film is set to release in theaters on December 5, 2025.
The trailer dropped a little earlier than expected, arriving just before San Diego Comic-Con 2025. With the convention underway, fans might get even more reveals about the movie in the coming days.
For now, the new trailer promises a darker, more intense chapter in the Five Nights at Freddy’s saga, and the animatronics have never been more terrifying.
