Speaking to People, Taylor reflected on the journey back to music after a five-year break. I love to create and direct, so being able to come back to music in such a vulnerable way was very healing for me, she said.
She admitted that returning to the studio wasn’t always easy, as she faced challenges along the way. Your art is your art, and once you’re willing to be vulnerable and raw, of course you’re going to be nervous, she explained. The album, which includes narrations from stars like Sarah Paulson and Issa Rae, has been praised as a standout in visual storytelling.
