Big news for anyone who’s been waiting on updates for ‘The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten’! The team behind the anime just unveiled a fresh key visual for its second season, and it’s got us excited for what’s coming. This romantic comedy, loved for its sweet and simple charm, is gearing up to bring more of Amane and Mahiru’s story to life.

The new artwork shows off Mahiru Shiina, the kind and beautiful girl next door, alongside Amane Fujimiya, the average guy she’s slowly warming up to. It’s a clean, colorful piece that captures their growing bond perfectly. We first met these two back in January 2023 when the show kicked off, and it didn’t take long for their quiet chemistry to win us over. Now, with this latest visual, it’s clear the next chapter is on the way.

Season 1, animated by Project No.9, wrapped up in March 2023 after 12 episodes. It followed Amane, a high schooler living alone, and Mahiru, the school’s “angel” who starts helping him out after he lends her an umbrella on a rainy day. What starts as a small act of kindness turns into something deeper as they spend more time together. The show, based on a light novel by Saekisan with illustrations by Hanekoto, has been a hit for its relatable characters and cozy vibe.

No release date yet, but the second season was confirmed back in October 2023 during a special event. Since then, things have been pretty quiet—until now. This new visual, is the first big peek we’ve gotten in a while. It’s got Mahiru and Amane front and center, hinting that their relationship will keep evolving in ways we can’t wait to see.

The original light novel started online in 2018 before getting picked up by SB Creative’s GA Bunko label in 2019. Eleven volumes are out so far, and Yen Press has been bringing it to English readers. There’s also a manga version, drawn by Wan Shibata and arranged by Suzu Yūki, running in Square Enix’s Manga Up! since 2022. With all this material, there’s plenty of story left for the anime to dig into.

I’m betting the team behind the show will stick close to what worked last time. Lihua Wang directed the first season, with Keiichirō Ōchi handling scripts, Takayuki Noguchi designing characters, and Moe Hyuga on music. The voice cast, including Taito Ban as Amane and Manaka Iwami as Mahiru, brought these two to life so well that I’d be shocked if they didn’t return.

You can catch the first season on Crunchyroll if you need a refresher—or if you’ve never seen it. For now, we’re left hanging on when Season 2 will drop, but this new visual is a solid sign it’s still moving forward. Keep an eye out—Amane and Mahiru’s next steps are bound to be worth the wait!
