Producer John Cohen Confirms ‘The Angry Birds Movie 3’ with a Teaser Video!

Remember how we used to catapult birds into fortresses run by evil pigs? Yeah, the Angry Birds video game was one of the most popular ones by far, and no one was surprised when Sony released a movie adaptation that went on to become one of the more popular animated movies of that year. A sequel was released in 2019, also to mostly positive reviews, and since then… nothing. Well, at least not until today! Namely, today, producer John Cohen released a short teaser video featuring Red, which confirmed that The Angry Birds Movie 3 was in production, which made many fans happy!

Not much is known about the upcoming project, but we know that Sony won’t be involved with the third movie and that DNEG Animation and Rovio’s new parent company, Sega Sammy Group are producing the upcoming sequel to the 2019’s hit film.

Now, as we have stated, very little has been revealed about the movie as of the time of writing, but we do know that it is in production, as was confirmed via this teaser video:

What does the teaser video tell us? Well, we can see that Red is being catapulted somewhere, which is a great reference to the game itself, but that’s about it. Yeah, no release window yet… sorry!

Rovio has issued a press release confirming the following information about the cast and crew of the movie:

The third installment in the franchise will follow the continuing adventures of Red and Chuck, voiced once again by Jason Sudeikis (Ted Lasso, SNL, We’re the Millers) and Josh Gad (Frozen, Beauty and the Beast, Gutenberg!, Murder on the Orient Express). Jason Sudeikis is represented by Brillstein Entertainment Partners and TAG. Josh Gad is represented by Sugar 23, CAA and JSSK. More casting news will be coming soon.

The Angry Birds Movie 3 will be directed by John Rice (Angry Birds, Beavis and Butt-Head Do The Universe). The screenplay will be written by Thurop Van Orman (Angry Birds 2, Adventure Time, Flapjack), who will also executive produce alongside Toru Nakahara (Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic Prime, Golden Axe). The film will be produced by John Cohen (Despicable Me, The Garfield Movie, Angry Birds), Dan Chuba (The Mitchells vs. the Machines), and Carla Connor (The Willoughbys).

As you can see, the studios behind it have already organized a crew for the movie, and the two main voice actors are also set to return for the third movie.
