This ‘The Ark’ recap covers “The Lucky Ones,” which aired on Syfy on September 30 and was directed by Milena Grujic from a script by James DeLorean. The network’s official summary pointed to a rescue mission for Garnet and an existential threat to Homebase.

The hour split its attention between a risky cure aboard Ark One and a strange vanishing act on the ground. Here is a full ‘The Ark’ recap and ending explained for anyone catching up. The season has kept its two storylines apart for most of its run, and this stretch is where they start drifting back together.

Episode Recap Opens With a Risky Cure

The hour opens with Kabir testing her cure for psychosis on the new clone, and Sharon cycles through hope, relief, fear and desperation as it unfolds. The crew names the clone Jenny, and Sharon insists she be treated with dignity and respect.

Ian wants to help Jenny settle into life on Ark One because she has no memory of her past, and his kindness creates complications. Syfy’s own description frames the story as an act of kindness that leads to obsession.

Jenny falls in love with Ian, and the cure also gives her telekinetic powers, which leads to a near disaster on the ship. Ian speaks up once he realizes her interest is romantic, because his heart belongs to Sharon.

The Ending Explained for Jenny and Alexandria

Jenny punishes the crew members who do not support her feelings for Ian, which forces a decision between casting her aside and offering her more help. The crew chooses to help.

Kabir does not only create the initial cure, she also fixes it, producing a treatment that fully cures the clone. When Jenny wakes she remembers who she is, and the name Alexandria brings Sharon a rush of joy.

Sharon spent years grieving her sister Denise, and the new bond feels different from her connection with Jill. The Drake storyline is only mentioned in passing, yet Sharon will now want to help the other affected clones on his ship.

Brice and Eva Vanish Inside a Forcefield

Back on Homebase 1, a shuttle carrying Brice and Eva disappears from the scope, and a rescue party goes out to examine the wreckage. The pair did not die, they were simply phased out of the world and able to move about unseen.

While invisible they spent considerable time underground with Kelly, where they learned that the stone the colony treasures may be an on switch rather than a weapon. That switch displays a rich history and makes the anomaly from the shuttle visible.

The barrier turns out to be a forcefield, and a volcano whose lava is creeping toward Homebase 1 raises the stakes. Once the field is active, Brice and Eva return to the scene and reappear, and Alicia learns that something large and ominous sits inside it.

Brice has lost his memories of Eva, and being stuck together strips away the noise so the two can finally talk. His memories do not come flooding back, but he starts paying attention to what muscle memory tells him.

What the Season Finale Looks Like After This Hour

The season is a twelve episode run, which leaves only two chapters after this one. With the cure working, the forcefield mystery open and lava still advancing, the writers have plenty left to resolve.

TV Fanatic gave the hour a critic’s rating of 4.5 out of 5, and reviewer Alexandria Ingham said she had feared waiting another week for closure on the clone storyline. She also noted that Ian and Sharon both treat clones as their own people and keep choosing each other at crucial moments.

Nerds That Geek singled out Christie Burke’s work across the various Garnet clones, noting that her Jenny carried both fear of being alone and echoes of past abuse. With Sharon gaining a sister in Alexandria just as lava closes in on Homebase 1, should the finale center on that new bond or on whatever is waiting inside the forcefield, and does Kabir’s cure deserve to reach the clones on Drake’s ship before the season ends in the comments?
