‘The Batman Part II’ Reportedly Hit Another Snag, and This One Involves the Batmobile

‘The Batman Part II’ has had a long road to the screen. After years of development, filming finally began this summer, with Robert Pattinson returning as the Dark Knight. Fans have been waiting a long time to see Gotham’s gloom up close again.

October brought the first big bump, though. Production paused when director Matt Reeves stepped away for personal reasons. In a statement reported by Deadline, the studio said production was “temporarily paused while Matt Reeves focuses on a family matter.”

Now a new report suggests the shoot ran into a second, far more physical problem. Filming was halted earlier in October after a cast member was hit by the Batmobile, according to a report from The Sun. The accident is said to have happened during the filming of a dramatic scene.

According to the outlet’s sourcing, the injured person was treated right away. The unnamed person is said to be recovering at home after receiving hospital treatment. The cast member was taken to a hospital, and the report does not name them.

A source told The Sun that the franchise is known for “ambitious scenes,” but this one “went horribly wrong.” The source added that people on set said the Batmobile had run someone over, and that filming was stopped.

The Sun also tried to confirm who was involved. It reached out to the actor it believed was injured, and that actor didn’t deny the incident. That is not an official confirmation, so the details remain unverified for now.

The Batmobile at the center of this is a familiar piece of Reeves’ Gotham. It is believed to be the souped-up muscle car introduced in the first film directed by Reeves. In 2022, it was one of the standout elements of the original film’s grimy, rain-soaked world.

Production does not appear to have been derailed for long. Filming has since resumed at Leavesden Studios outside London. It also appears the movie continued filming after the accident, so this incident shouldn’t push the release date back further on its own.

Timing is the more interesting question. The Sun’s report does not tie the accident to the earlier pause, so there is no suggestion the two events are connected. Still, the sequel has had an eventful few weeks.

There has also been a notable change behind the camera. A DC Studios spokesperson said Steven Soderbergh will step in, with the studio’s full support, to help Reeves complete the final weeks of principal photography. That is a big name to bring in on a project of this scale.

For now, the sequel is still on track. The movie remains scheduled for release on 18 February 2028, and sources said it was too early to say whether the stoppage would affect the date. Warner Bros. and DC Studios have not publicly addressed the Batmobile accident, so fans will be watching for an official word.

If the report holds up, it is a reminder of the real risks behind big action spectacles. A shoot this ambitious involves heavy vehicles, tight choreography and long overnight sessions. Here’s hoping the cast member makes a full recovery and the rest of the production runs without further surprises.
